Features of SSIS Arts and Craft Programme 

In SSIS we believe that Art can nurture our students’ character and integrity, and make their lives more colourful and fruitful.
The objectives of the SSIS Art curriculum are as follows:
  • To develop students’ EQ (Emotional Quotient)  and IQ (Intelligence Quotient), discover and enhance their imagination and creativity
  • To help students grasp the basic knowledge and skills of Art, enable them to express their own thoughts and creations through art activities
  • To enhance students’ comprehension of life skills; cultivate their ability for independent and lifelong learning
  • To cultivate students’ ability to create art and enable them to combine art with the other subjects, and skills to create a better life through design, beautification, art practice and exhibition
To achieve the objectives above we will educate our students in four major areas:

          Art theory
—basic knowledge and skill
  • To promote good habits in learning about art
  • To learn basic skills of art such as drawing, painting, craft and the usage of common art tools
  • To study the elements of art, theory of color and the principles of design                         

    Art creation—IQ, EQ and creation ability
  • Fully demonstrate the ability for creative thinking and imagination
  • To love life, discover and create beauty; and beautify personal living conditions
  • To foster considerable design ability and creative notion

          Art appreciation—aesthetic quality and artistic talent
  • To foster good aesthetic appreciation ability and be able to determine the characteristics of nature and artificial beauty
  • To grasp basic aesthetic knowledge, know about 8-10 art masters and their representative artworks, styles and factions
  • To express one’s own opinion and thought about artwork using basic art forms

          Art practice—compatibility among different subjects, cultivation of integrated ability and lifelong learning
  • Realize the connection between Art and the other subjects and idea of integrated knowledge
  • Nurture good artistic creation habits; be able to combine art knowledge with the other knowledge and skills to create a better life through design, beautification, Art practice and exhibition
  • Cultivate spirit of exploration, be able to discover, learn and create beauty and keep up with self-enrichment and self-perfection
