Basic Admission Criteria
All students accepted and re-enrolled at SSIS must abide by the following Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC) guidelines:

• Student must hold “Z” visas and residency permit and must reside in Shanghai with at least one parent.
• At least one parent of student must hold a foreign passport and at least one parent must be working in China with a valid work permit.
• If one parent is working outside Shanghai but his/her home is in Shanghai then at least one parent must live with the student.
• All students and parents from Macau and Hong Kong must possess Macau or Hong Kong permanent ID.
• Taiwan passports are not recognized as proof of foreign status. All students and parents from Taiwan must have a Taiwan ID or Taiwan Return documentation in order for students to attend.
