High School Ethos

SSIS High School Division seeks to create a vibrant school culture and stimulating learning environment for all individuals. Within a framework of high expectations, equal opportunities and team commitment, students learn to lead as well as to serve. In the process, students develop a sense of responsibility both within the school and in the wider community. The school is committed to promoting a school spirit that encourages active student participation in decision making and a climate where students see themselves as citizens of the world.

High School Mission Statement

SSIS High School seeks to provide an international education to produce all-rounded students, equipped with life skills (IB learner profile) and filled with a zest for life-long learning.

SSIS High School Division strives to achieve our mission and vision statement through the following Strategic Thrusts.

Programmes

SSIS offers two programmes at our High School
1) IB Diploma Programme and
2) IB Certificate Programme

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

IB Mission statement & Learner Profile

SSIS High School is a member of the International Baccalaureate World School and offers the widely recognized IB Diploma Programme.

To qualify for a diploma, students have to take a total of six subjects; three to be taken at higher level and three at standard level. Students must also fulfil three core requirements:

1. an extended essay based on research
2. an interdisciplinary course on Theory of Knowledge and
3. CAS-pursuit in creativity, action and community service

Subjects Offered
1. Langugage A : Chinese, English, Korean
2. Language B / Ab Initio : Chinese, English
3. The Individual and Society – Business & Management, Economics, Environmental Systems & Societies, Geography, History, Information Technology in Global Society.
4. Experimental Science – Biology, Environmental Systems & Societies, Chemistry, Physics.
5. Mathematics, Mathematical Studies.
6. Arts and Electives-Visual Art, Music

Entry Requirements
New applicants must take an entrance test and sit through an interview to demonstrate sufficient ability in English and Maths.

Students from the Middle Years Programme must have obtained at least 4 points in the English Language and 20 points for 5 other subjects, namely Chinese, Maths, Science(either Physics/Chemistry/Biology), Humanities(either History/Geography) and Art.

IB Certificate Programme

Students in the SSIS School Certificate Programme
- study a minimum of 5 subjects where at least one subject is taken at higher level OR a minimum of 5  subjects all of which are studied at standard level
- participate in 100 hours of CAS and other enrichment activities.

At the end of the course, students who pursue the IB certificate programme are awarded the IB Certificate and the SSIS School Leaving Certificate.
