Secondary School Programme Overview

middle

SSIS will begin to introduce the 2-year International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for students in Secondary Three (Grade 9) in the Academic Year 2012/2013. As an experienced IB school for both the Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, SSIS is now well-positioned to offer our Secondary School students an integrated programmed where the best practices of both the IB MYP and IGCSE curriculum are matched and fused.

While the latter focuses on academic excellence and knowledge required to excel in the IB Diploma Programme, SSIS students will continue to benefit from the skills-based learning approach from IB Middle Years Programme when they are in Secondary One and Two (Grade 7 and 8). The School has been approved as a teaching institute for IGCSE since June 2009 and detailed preparation from our IGCSE staffing team had laid a strong foundation to kick off a successful new programme.

SECONDARY SCHOOL MISSION

To develop in each student a sense of his or her potential as an excellent and well-balanced scholar, a disciplined and responsible member of society as well as a caring, gracious citizens of the world.

SSIS CORE VALUES

Being an IB school, the target for the school is to help our students acquire the qualities prescribed by IBO which overlap with our core values (Initiative, Communication, Collaboration, Commitment, Caring). It is our calling to see the students strive to be knowledgeable inquirers, thinkers, risk-takers and communicators who are principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective.
