This weekend saw our Touch Rugby team play in their final tournament at SAS Pudong. The sun was beating down on our grade 7 and 8’s out on the fields throughout the day. Despite the blazing heat, our students’ spirits were high as they looked to impress their coaches who have worked tirelessly over the past 4 weeks to teach them the necessary skills to play. One of our players summed it up well:
“At the beginning of the season, I knew nothing about Touch Rugby. However, by the end of it, I knew how to wrap and pass which led to us scoring a few tries.”
Throughout the season, our players have shown improvements with every game within their Touch Rugby skills, team work and consistency when it came to their attacking play. So much so, that during their final tournament on Saturday, they earned their first win of the season by beating Boston International School 3-1.
It has been a short season, but all students had a lot of fun learning new skills and meeting new friends. A big thank you to Coach Ross and Coach Corey for all your hard work.
WELL DONE SABRES!
Sports allow our students to build their self-esteem, confidence and help build social skills. Within our program we push our students to be responsible by attending every game and practice, to be organised and more importantly to demonstrate appropriate sportsmanship on and off the court, pitch or field. Here at SSIS we strive for excellence in the classroom and within our ASP programs.
If you liked our article and would like to sign your child up for sports, our next season will be CISSA Soccer. This will be open to Grade 6, 7 and 8 students. Sign-ups will close on Thursday 20th at 4:00pm.
