The Mermaid’s Park is a SSIS collaboration with Sun Island to design a fun-filled yet challenging mini theme park that caters to every student, with SAFETY being the top priority.
In keeping with a desire for a natural playground, a park-like design was conceptualised, with the space dotted with existing trees, hills and surrounded by wooden logs amidst the assorted play elements. This park aims to fulfill play needs of preschoolers to teenagers and even teachers who are young-at-heart, providing them with the opportunities to growsocially, emotionally and physically!
How can we forget about FUN, IMAGINATIVE PLAY & A GOOD DOSE OF ADRENALIN?
View the world from atop the lookout structure before taking an adrenalin-filled slide down the 7-metre high tube. Test your strength and balancing skills at the low-ropes obstacle course. Enter the world of imagination as you embark on an adventure across the seven seas in search of the elusive mermaids.
Climb, crawl, slide, swing are just some of the gross motor skills young children will get to develop at the bee-hive structure and central hill area.
After a week of playground safety instructions during PE lessons, come 25 September 2018 (Tuesday), Mermaid’s Park will officially welcome her first playmates during morning recess at 8am. Classes will be scheduled to play during lunch breaks while parents can supervise their child after school from 3:45pm onwards.
Mermaid’s Park – an open space for explorative play and favourite haunt for SSIS students of all ages!
