Our Combined Sports Day for pupils in grades 1-6 was a huge success. Pupils and teachers were dressed in different colors ready to participate. The goal of the event is to strengthen our SSIS community while working together and developing skills in different sports and games.
The high energy of pupils, teachers and parents was evident through the laughter and cheering voices that could be heard throughout the day. Some of the highlights of that day included the pupils working together to finish a few of the activities that were done to build teamwork. It was wonderful to see how they helped and supported each other during these events. The classes showed both team spirit and sportsmanship throughout all events, while parents showed their support on the sidelines.
Some of the stations had more focus on skill development. Our youngest golfers had a fantastic time during the Putting Challenge where they were given the chance to win a prize by knocking down all the pins. Pupils were also able to demonstrate and apply the lessons that they have learned during their attempts.
One parent summed it up very well, “I’m so glad my child is exposed to different types of games, and developing teamwork and sportsmanship at a young age. It is really holistic education!”
At the end of the day all teachers, parents and pupils gathered together in the gym to show their Sabre Spirit by cheering for each other as we said farewell to our friends from Xuhui Campus. While the pupils at Xuhui Campus waved goodbye to all buses heading back to Minhang Campus, saying “see you next time!” It was definitely a high energy, yet memorable day.
