Admissions Process

We are delighted you are considering applying to the Shanghai Singapore International School. 

SSIS is invested in admitting new families and students who believe in our culture of the community, academic rigour, and whole-child development. 

We understand moving to a new school can be a big step, not just for your children, but also for your family.

Below is an outline of our Application Procedure.

STEP 1 – CREATE AN OPEN APPLY ACCOUNT

  • In order to submit an application or register for an open day, you are required to register an Open Apply account.
  • This account will be your primary source of receiving all notifications from the school throughout the application process.

STEP 2 – COMPLETE AND SUBMIT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS VIA OPEN APPLY

  • All documents must be translated to English or Chinese by an authorised translation company.
  • Please remember to bring the original documents to the Admissions Office for verification on the day of the Admissions Assessment.
  • Please select the appropriate documents to be submitted.
  • One (1) completed SSIS Registration Kit.
  • One (1) completed and signed SSIS Code of Conduct (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) completed SSIS Confidential School Recommendation Form (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s vaccination record. (English/Chinese)
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s latest academic results/report.
  • One (1) passport-size photo of applicant.
  • One (1) copy of parent’s or parents’ valid Shanghai-issued Alien Employment Permit.
  • One (1) copy of a stamped and signed, by the issuer, Employment Certificate stating the employee’s full name, date of birth, job title, employment period, company’s registered name, address and telephone number.
  • One (1) copy of a stamped corresponding Shanghai business license.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ passport detail page and valid Shanghai-issued Residence Permit for Foreigners.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ Shanghai Temporary Residence Permit and Shanghai Property Ownership Certificate/Title Deed OR Shanghai Tenancy Agreement.
  • One (1) completed SSIS Registration Kit.
  • One (1) completed and signed SSIS Code of Conduct (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) completed SSIS Confidential School Recommendation Form (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s vaccination record. (English/Chinese)
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s latest academic results/report.
  • One (1) passport-size photo of applicant.
  • One (1) copy each of applicant’s and parents’ Hong Kong or Macau SAR Permanent Identity Card, Mainland China Travel Pass for Hong Kong and Macau citizens or Taiwan Compatriot Permit where applicable.
  • One (1) copy of a stamped and signed, by the issuer, Employment Certificate stating the employee’s full name, date of birth, job title, employment period, company’s registered name, address and telephone number.
  • One (1) copy of stamped corresponding Shanghai business license.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ passport detail page.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ Shanghai Temporary Residence Permit and Shanghai Property Ownership Certificate/Title Deed OR Shanghai Tenancy Agreement.
  • One (1) completed SSIS Registration Kit.
  • One (1) completed and signed SSIS Code of Conduct (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) completed SSIS Confidential School Recommendation Form (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s vaccination record. (English/Chinese)
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s latest academic results/report.
  • One (1) passport-size photo of applicant.
  • One (1) copy each of applicant’s Hong Kong or Macau SAR Permanent Identity Card, Mainland China Travel Pass for Hong Kong and Macau citizen
  • One (1) copy of both parents’ ID cards and Household Register Booklet.
  • One (1) copy of a stamped and signed, by the issuer, Employment Certificate stating the employee’s full name, date of birth, job title, employment period, company’s registered name, address and telephone number.
  • One (1) copy of stamped corresponding business license.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ passport detail page.
  • One (1) copy of one parent’s Shanghai Property Ownership Certificate/Title Deed OR Shanghai Tenancy Agreement.
  • One (1) completed SSIS Registration Kit.
  • One (1) completed and signed SSIS Code of Conduct (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) completed SSIS Confidential School Recommendation Form (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s translated (into Chinese) and notarized lawful foreign birth certificate.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s vaccination record. (English/Chinese)
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s latest academic results/report.
  • One (1) passport-size photo of applicant.
  • One (1) copy of both of parents’ ID cards and Household Register Booklet.
  • One (1) copy of a stamped and signed, by the issuer, Employment Certificate stating the employee’s full name, date of birth, job title, employment period, company’s registered name, address and telephone number.
  • One (1) copy of stamped corresponding business license.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ passport detail page.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s valid visa.
  • One (1) copy of one parent’s Shanghai Property Ownership Certificate/Title Deed OR Shanghai Tenancy Agreement.
  • The entire family holds Chinese passports.
  • The entire family has obtained permanent residency status in a foreign country.
  • At least one parent works and resides in Shanghai.
  • The child studies in an overseas education institution during the last two consecutive years.

These families are required to submit the following documents:

  • One (1) official approval notification from the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission (SHMEC).
  • One (1) copy of SSIS Registration Kit.
  • One (1) completed and signed SSIS Code of Conduct (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) completed SSIS Confidential School Recommendation Form (for G1 applicant and above).
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s birth certificate.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s vaccination record. (English/Chinese)
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s latest academic results/report.
  • One (1) passport-size photo of applicant.
  • One (1) copy of the Household Register Booklet.
  • One (1) copy of the applicant’s and parents’ passport detail page.
  • One (1) copy of the Shanghai Property Ownership/Title Deed OR Shanghai Tenancy Agreement.

STEP 3 – MAKE PAYMENT FOR THE APPLICATION FEE

  • Pay for the Application Fee at least five working days before the Admissions Assessment date upon the issuance of the proforma invoice by SSIS Finance.
  • Payment methods include bank transfer, and on-site payment via credit card or cash.

STEP 4 – TAKE THE ADMISSIONS ASSESSMENT

  • All applicants are required to complete an Admissions Assessment.
  • Our admissions officers will get in touch with you regarding the details of the Admissions Assessment once we receive your complete application documents.

STEP 5 – COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION

  • Upon receipt of Admissions Assessment result, please make payment for the Seat Guarantee Deposit (SGD) within five working days.
  • Applicants will receive the SSIS Admissions Notification after confirmation of receipt of SGD.
