I'm from Singapore, and I studied at the College of Modern Montessori (Training College for Early Childhood Course). I am a trained Early Childhood teacher and have been working in SSIS since 2003.

Kindergarten education is my passion and my calling. I like to nurture the kids even as I continue my growth as a teacher and person. I always lead through play, because it helps children learn about themselves. It also brings us closer and makes them feel loved and happy.

My interests are sports, travels, creative arts and cooking, as it gives me the opportunities to enjoy my great life.

I have been in the SSIS Nursery team since 2004. Before that, I
worked in a childcare centre, kindergarten and an international school in Singapore, where I'm from. My charges range from three- to six-year-olds.

Working with preschoolers is challenging and fulfilling work. I learn from the children while I'm teaching them, because children can show you things that you wouldn't think of; they will surprise you with what they know and have learned. As a preschool educator, I hope to support children in what they want to do, so that they can grow up and follow their dreams.

Singapore is a beautiful sunny island which has a wide variety of delicious food, and I love my hawker food. My other interests include walking, jogging, dancing and travelling.

Through my training in Early Childhood Education, I have come to realise that the pre-school years of a child's life are critical. It is the period where a strong foundation must be built, and the child's cognitive, physical, social and emotional domains are developed progressively. This will ensure that the child will grow up to maximise his or her potential and be a responsible global citizen. After I joined SSIS in 2005, the school has given me the platform to realise my beliefs.

Other than teaching in a school environment, I used to coach children and adults canoeing and to swim when I was working in Singapore. I love the sea as well as nature, and I will go paddle whenever I have the opportunity.

I was born and raised in the Philippines. My love for children led me to earn my Degree in Education in 2000 after obtaining my undergraduate Degree in Economics in 1987.

I have been teaching at SSIS since 2006. I love first grade because I know just where they're coming from and exactly where they need to go. I often visualise myself as a traffic enforcer in between two crossroads, making sure everyone's transition from end to end will be smooth flowing. This is mainly because I have experienced teaching Kindergarten, P1 and P2. Sprezzatura! a word that describes my teaching style…live life like a duck- flowing smoothly on the surface but paddling hard underneath.

I adore all the students I have taught. I am privileged to meet some of the most talented and amazing educators from different parts of the world. I feel like I have become a better teacher because of teachers' collaboration. Lastly, I feel valued by the school.

I have been working in Early Childhood education for more than 30 years. In Singapore, I started as an assistant teacher and took courses in NIE. I eventually became a supervisor of preschools for more than eight years. I joined SSIS in 2008 as a teacher, which I enjoyed the most.

I have gained new insights and many experiences with different batches of students and learnt how I could bring across my lessons more effectively. Every child is unique and requires different approaches. Early childhood is challenging, as the dynamics of the cohort changes yearly. I enjoy working with Preschool children, and I sincerely hope to provide a pleasant and enriching experience for the little ones.

Going on trips and having nice meals with friends will make my day. Cooking, baking, karaoke, fishing, watching movies/dramas, travelling, outings and bowling are some of my favourite activities when I have the luxury of time.

I am from New Zealand, and after graduating from Iowa State University, I spent 11 years as a professional basketball player. I then worked at Henley Primary School in New Zealand, teaching Grades 4 and 5 for four years. For the past four years, I have worked at SSIS teaching Grade 5 English; I've also been the Head of Student Develop for the Primary School. I currently teach Grade 6 Mathematics.

Each student has the opportunity to develop and learn in a caring and neutering environment. Students should have the opportunity to improve academically and be given a chance to develop holistically. Students today face an ever-changing world and need skills to adapt to the challenges that lay ahead of them.

I come from the Philippines and I joined SSIS in August 2015. I have been living and teaching in Shanghai since 2005. It has been an awakening and a challenging journey so far. I am delighted to be a part of SSIS as a second grade form teacher. SSIS exemplifies my vision and mission as an educator.

I believe it is of utmost importance to explore different teaching strategies to meet the needs of each individual learner in my class. I offer my students a variety of learning opportunities, which focuses on their strengths, while instilling in them a passion for life-long learning and guiding them to be responsible global citizens. When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy watching movies, playing badminton, traveling and staying in touch with friends.

I'm from the Philippines, and I used to work at Gymboree and English First Language Center during my first few years in China. From 2012 until 2015, I worked at Shanghai American School as a teaching assistant for Grade 1 and 2. For the past four years, I have been a Grade 1 homeroom teacher at Shanghai Singapore International School.

I place a high priority in teaching students to socialise and in developing their character strengths – this is especially important for young learners. Grit is one example of character strengths young learners need to possess; it helps them adapt to the constant changes in the world.

Being a foodie, I enjoy reading food reviews to keep myself current on Shanghai's latest dining scene. At home, I am the masterchef! In my leisure time and for my passion, I attend dance classes regularly. I like to travel to experience and understand different cultures.

I believe that education is about preparing students for the unknown, giving them the skills to thrive and succeed in a world which is constantly and rapidly changing. The idea of making a difference means a great deal to me. My approach is to engage students beyond the strict academic curriculum in ways that are personally meaningful to and beneficial for them. I strongly believe in the value of a trans-disciplinary/cross-curricula approach.

Outside of school, I am an artist who has exhibited around Asia and Europe. I enjoy spending time with my wife and dogs, going to the gym and am a lifelong Liverpool Football Club supporter.

I'm from South Korea, but I spent most of my childhood in China. I attended a local Chinese school up to Grade 5, and then graduated at an international school. I then went to the UK for higher education.

In the last three years, I have been working in SSIS as a Grade 2 form teacher, and now I am teaching Grade 1 students.

I believe there are three qualities that's essential in a teacher: First, I firmly believe that the teacher should prioritise establishing positive relationship with pupils; second, I believe that building cooperative relationship with parents through constant communication is the key to helping students succeed in their learning; and third, I believe that the teacher should establish and consistently reinforce classroom procedures.

Outside of school, I love studying languages, dancing to K-pop, and doing yoga.

I am so thrilled to be back at SSIS after graduating here as an IB student. My passion for teaching and languages was discovered shortly after graduation. During my time at University of Manchester, one of my highlights was working closely with schools that provided language support and conducted Bilingual language education research on students with multicultural background. I also served weekly Chinese language and cultural classes for British Chinese families. I have also taught in tuition centres for native Korean speakers and most recently taught in Suzhou as an IB English teacher and founded the school's first boys' football team. Outside of work, you can see me either playing pickup football or laying under the sun with a book and an iced Vita Lemon Tea.

I am looking forward to giving back to my alma mater as an IB English and IGCSE Global Perspective teacher!

After graduation, I worked in a local school in Shanghai (where I'm from) as a Mandarin teacher for seven years. In the last 15 years, I've taught in various international schools in Shanghai as a Mandarin teacher, working with 10- to 18-year-olds.

I think the teacher's responsibility is to help students learn to solve problems. When students devote themselves to learning, they will be more focused and will learn better – it's crucial to cultivate my students' interests in studying. To improve the quality of my teaching, I employ effective teaching methods and materials that are the most suitable for my students.

Outside of school, I love cooking, reading, singing, running, yoga and travelling.
