Shanghai Singapore International School is excited to announce that we are certified to host our first Cambridge exam in December! The Cambridge Young Learners English (YLE) exams are designed for children aged 7 to 12 and consist of three levels: Starters, Movers, and Flyers. These exams assess listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in an engaging way.
SSIS officially gained the license in March 2024, it enables us to:
1.Host the Cambridge exams on campus.
2.Access internationally recognised Cambridge Assessment Exams, including training, resources, and support from Cambridge Assessment.
3.Ensure quality assurance through quality checks and maintaining high standards in exam delivery.
The main purposes of holding Cambridge exams for young learners are manifold. These exams use colourful materials and create a friendly environment to motivate students and give them a sense of progress. Benefits abound, including fostering a positive attitude towards English learning, providing a benchmark for assessment, enabling progress tracking, and structuring learning with clear goals.
After taking the YLE exam, students can expect to receive a certificate for their respective level. That not only builds confidence but also encourages further study. Moreover, with international recognition, these certificates are a valuable asset on students’ educational journeys. Truly a pathway to success and growth!
While the upcoming December 7 Cambridge Exam is only open to primary ELA students, other SSIS students can consider the next test on March 8th, Saturday. Please look out for more information from us in the future.
