Dear Parents,
By the time of reading this edition of our newsletter, most if not all our Autumn Excursions for our students would have been completed. Learning outside of the classroom is an integral part of learning here in SSIS and we hope that your child will share with you what they have experienced and learnt in the process.
OA Updates
We have good news! OpenApply(OA) is finally available as an app for downloading on your mobile devices. While the web browser continues to be available for use, you can now have the convenience of having OA functions at your fingertips.
好消息！OpenApply（OA）终于有了应用程序。您可在手机上下载app了。网络浏览器仍然可以使用。
We would also like parents to proceed to Checklist on OA to do the following:
Complimentary dental screening services will be made available in school by our community partner, Alpha Dental. All students aged between 2-18 will be scheduled to receive this screening at the end of November. However, parents will need to opt out of this dental screening on OA if you do not wish for your child by 10 November 2023 (Friday). We will arrange for the classes to visit the Alpha Dental team between 21-23 November. The screening will take less than 15 minutes for the whole class and parents will receive a dental report at the end of the session.
学校社区合作伙伴上海康怡口腔门诊部Alpha Dental将为全校学生提供免费的口腔检查。本次口腔义诊将于11月下旬进行，面向2至18岁的所有学生。如果家长不希望您的孩子接受检查，请在2023年11月10日（星期五）之前在OA上选择“不参加”。学校将安排各班级在11月21至23日期间完成检查。整个检查过程不超过15分钟，结束后家长将收到一份口腔报告。
Parent Card and Pick-up Card
From 30 October, Monday, adults with their SSIS card will be allowed to enter the school in the morning between 8-9 am and during afternoon and ASP dismissal times from 3:15pm onwards since by now most parents and care-givers will have applied and been issued with their Parent and Pick-up cards. If you have forgotten your card, we ask for you to wait patiently at the gate while the students will be brought out to Gate 1 at the end of the entire dismissal specifically from 4pm and 5:10 pm respectively.
从10月30日（星期一）起，持有SSIS卡(家长卡/接送卡）的成年人将被允许在上午8点至9点以及下午3点15分后和ASP放学时间进入学校。如果你忘了带卡，请您在门口耐心等待。您的孩子将在4点和5点10分到达1号门。
Reading Extravaganza (6-10 November)
We look forward to Reading is an Adventure as our theme for our Reading Extravaganza. It will be a week-long promotion and cultivation of love for reading in our community. Besides the activities, we would also take this opportunity to launch the Parent Book Loan in our school libraries.
“Empowering Parents: Your Guide to Lending in the School Library”
We are happy to announce that we will opening up the libraries between 8-9.00 (Monday – Friday) for borrowing. Parents can borrow books under their children’s name. If your child’s account is full, we will let you borrow two books extra. You do not need to bring your child’s student card just your family card with you for clarity. The loan period will be the same time as the students’.
