International Friendship Day: Celebrating Culture and Community

On 10 April, our school came together to celebrate International Friendship Day, a vibrant and much-anticipated event that continues to be a highlight of the year. Throughout the week, students enjoyed special snacks from around the world and had the unique opportunity to learn directly from several parents who visited classrooms to share their cultural traditions, stories, and ethnic crafts. We extend our sincere thanks to all the parents who generously volunteered their time. Your contributions created meaningful, firsthand learning experiences for our students.

The celebration continued in the gym, where students explored a variety of IFD booths, participating in engaging activities, and receiving special gifts that represented cultures from around the world. The event also featured a wonderful performance by the ASP Dance Group, as well as a lively cultural parade where students proudly walked across the stage in their traditional attire.

A heartfelt thank you to our Parent Support Group (PSG) for their incredible planning and organisation in bringing this event to life. International Friendship Day is always a joyful celebration of diversity, connection, and learning, and this year was no exception.

Student-Led Conferences: A Journey of Learning

Our recent Student-Led Conferences transformed learning into an exciting adventure as students and families followed a special treasure map across different classroom “stops.” At each rotation, parents worked alongside their child to complete activities that showcased their learning, making the experience both interactive and meaningful.

Across Early Years, K1, and K2, students demonstrated a wide range of skills through hands-on activities such as obstacle courses in PE, patternmaking, alphabet games, reading challenges, and exploring science concepts through experiments. Students took the lead by explaining their thinking, guiding their parents, and proudly sharing what they have learned throughout the term.

At the end of the journey, families took home their child’s learning portfolio, allowing time to reflect together and celebrate progress at their own pace. The day was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the home–school connection, empower student voice, and make learning visible in a fun and memorable way.

Thank you to everyone who stayed to support our Primary Division and enjoyed Annie the Musical, a wonderful way to round out the day together as a community.

Spring Excursions: Learning Beyond the Classroom

This spring, our Early Years students extended their learning beyond the classroom through a series of engaging excursions, each thoughtfully designed to support key learning objectives and deepen understanding through real-world experiences.

Our Family Class students visited the aquarium, where they explored ocean habitats by identifying different marine animals and observing their unique features. Students compared animals’ body parts to their own and discussed ways to protect ocean life, building early awareness of environmental responsibility. Kindergarten 1 students enjoyed their visit to Sun Island, where they named and categorised animals while describing their characteristics. They also took part in a cookie-baking activity, safely using equipment and following steps to create their own treats, connecting learning to practical life skills.

Kindergarten 2 students visited a specialised learning centre where they explored natural disasters and prehistoric environments through interactive activities. Through drama and storytelling, students deepened their understanding of volcanoes and ancient landscapes while developing imagination, communication, and collaboration skills. These excursions provided meaningful opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in authentic contexts while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love of discovery.
