Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the first edition of our monthly newsletter for the 2026-27 school year! We are delighted to have our students back on campus, refreshed and ready for another exciting year of learning and growth. The beginning of the year is always a special time, filled with new friendships, fresh opportunities, and the energy that comes with a new start. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school community.

New Family Coffee Morning

We welcomed our new families to the first Coffee Morning of the school year. It was a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with one another, share how their children are settling in, and hear about the experiences of other families. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere allowed everyone to exchange stories and build new friendships within our school community.

Parents also had the chance to ask questions and gain clarification on school routines, helping them feel more confident and informed about daily life at our school. As a special treat, attendees were invited to try the school lunch, giving them a firsthand taste of the nutritious and delicious meals their children enjoy each day. We thank all the families who joined us and look forward to seeing you at our next Coffee Morning!

Mega Mall Performance

We are incredibly proud of our Grade 2 students who recently had the wonderful opportunity to perform at the Mega Mall. The students sang their hearts out, showcasing a song they had been practising, and brought joy to shoppers and families who stopped to watch. It was a fantastic experience for our young performers to build their confidence and share their talents with the wider community. Thank you to all the parents and staff who came out to support them on the day.

Grade 2 Performance at Mega Mall

Following the performance, our teachers continued the fun by reading books aloud to engage students at the Mega Mall. The read-aloud sessions sparked imagination and fostered a love for stories, drawing in children and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere right in the middle of the mall. These moments remind us that learning can happen anywhere, and we are grateful to our teachers for going above and beyond to make reading exciting for our students. We encourage families to continue this at home by reading together regularly and asking your child about the stories they have been enjoying.

Update to Our Assembly Invitation System

We are writing to let you know about a change to how we will handle assembly invitations this year. Moving forward, we will be using an open invite system for our regular assemblies.

On the Monday of each assembly week, we will post a list through ManageBac of the students who will be receiving awards or performing at that week’s assembly. This gives you advance notice so that you can make arrangements to join us if your child is involved. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Families will continue to receive personal invitations. These events will remain by invitation to ensure they are appropriately celebrated.

Student Council Investiture

What a proud moment for our school community! On the 18^th September, we gathered to witness the official Investiture of our new Student Council, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in student leadership.

The ceremony was a wonderful celebration of dedication, service, and school spirit. Our incoming council members took their oaths with confidence. From fresh ideas for school events to a genuine commitment to representing student voices, this group has already shown tremendous passion and potential.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to every member of the new Student Council. Your willingness to step up and serve your fellow students is truly commendable, and we have no doubt that you will rise to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Anti-Bullying Assembly

On September 18th, our students attended an assembly presentation on Anti-Bullying titled “Say NO to Bullying!” The session helped students understand that bullying is repetitive, intentional, and involves an imbalance of power, and it covered the four main types: physical, verbal, emotional/social, and cyber bullying. Students also learned the difference between bullying and one-time conflicts or disagreements, which is an important distinction for them to recognize.

A key focus of the assembly was encouraging students to become “Upstanders” rather than bystanders. We discussed practical ways they can help, such as reaching out to someone being bullied, telling a trusted adult, speaking out, and being a buddy to those who feel isolated. We encourage you to continue this conversation at home and ask your child what they learned. Together, we can ensure that every student feels safe and respected at our school.

Sabre’s Adventure Winners

This month’s SSIS Learner Attribute was Respectful. During homeroom time and Pastoral Care lessons, students explored what it means to show respect, to themselves, to others, and to the world around them. From practising good manners to listening carefully when others speak, our students demonstrated that respect is not just a word but an action we choose every day. Whether it was helping a friend, taking care of school property, or simply using kind words. We encourage you to continue this conversation at home by asking your child how they have been respectful this month and celebrating those moments together. Our Sabre’s Adventure this month are:
