At SSIS, we believe that passion, nurtured within a supportive community, can chart the course for a remarkable future. For Grade 12 student Forbes HSIEH, this belief has been vividly demonstrated over a dedicated 13-year journey —a golden path from his first K2 golf class to the seasoned competitor he is today. What began as an introductory swing on our school facilities has evolved into a powerful narrative of discipline, resilience, and clear-eyed ambition. Through consistent dedication, Forbes has honed his talent, proving that a foundation built here can sustain a lifelong pursuit of excellence.

For Forbes, golf is far more than a game; it’s a demanding teacher. The sport has instilled in him a unique set of skills that extend well beyond the 18 holes. Now in Grade 12 and navigating university applications, Forbes is directing the focus and strategic thinking honed on the golf course toward a new ambition: The study of Law.
The parallels are profound. The discipline of consistent practice mirrors the diligence required for legal study. The analytical skill of “course management” translates directly to constructing a legal argument or case strategy. Perhaps most importantly, the resilience to recover from a setback and the integrity inherent in a sport where you keep your own score are the very bedrocks of character sought in the legal profession. In addition, the planning and organizational skills he honed in organizing SSIS’s first TEDx and other diverse community events will also contribute to his future academic and career development.
