Reimagining Education for Future Global Leaders

Chapter 1: A Fresh Start, Personalised for Progress

Every child walks through our doors with dreams—and this year, we’re equipping them with the tools to chase those dreams ambitiously. Our Personalised Learning Journey (PLJ) begins with collaboratively set goals, ensuring your child strives for their personal best, not a one-size-fits-all benchmark. Through regular mentorship and progress tracking, we celebrate milestones both big and small, fostering a culture where every learner feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow.

For Senior School students

– Goal reflections for the year will be enabled under Student Profile in ManageBac (MB).

– An additional End-of-Year (EOY) report will showcase your child’s holistic achievements, including service learning contributions, helping to build their résumé.

Chapter 2: Setting the Standard—International Benchmarking

Paired with internationally recognised benchmarking tests for English and Maths, we’ll chart each child’s growth against global standards, ensuring they’re not just keeping pace but leading the way. The data collected will also enhance teaching and learning, identifying trends for long-term tracking.

Taking it a step further, we’ll introduce CAT4 testing to assess:

1) Verbal Reasoning

2) Non-Verbal Reasoning

3) Quantitative Reasoning

4) Spatial Reasoning

These areas provide insights into students’ learning strengths and potential, guiding personalised teaching strategies.

– Grade 3 and 5 students will take MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests in English and Maths periodically throughout the year.

– Grade 8 students will take CAT4 tests, supporting subject selection and university pathway guidance.

Chapter 3: Creativity Meets Competition

As part of our vision to develop holistic, well-rounded global leaders, our After-School Programmes (ASPs)—coupled with bus services for subscribed users—ensure every child can pursue sports, robotics, Model UN, or their unique passion project. These opportunities aren’t just extracurricular; they’re the building blocks of standout university portfolios and fulfilling careers.

Sabre CORE (Extended School Day with more ASP offerings) for all Pre-Nursery to G12 students on Mondays and Wednesdays of ASP seasons.

Sabre DISCOVERY (Optional ASP days) on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

– Expanded sports and diverse activity options, with progression pathways, providing tangible outcomes, including more showcases and competitions.

– Complementary offerings with paid specialist programmes throughout the week.

The stage and sports field are classrooms too. Our restructured Primary Aesthetics and PE programmes spark curiosity and resilience—whether through dance productions, choral singing, or game strategy analysis. These experiences aren’t just about skill-building; they’re about discovering passions that shape character and open future pathways.

– Grade level modular lesson delivery such as drama, instrument play, gaining exposure to a range of experiences and skills

Chapter 4: Mastering Language, Building Bridges

For our growing cohort of bilingual and multilingual learners, language is more than a skill—it’s a passport to global citizenship. Next year, English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes will feature bespoke content designed by our specialists, blending foundational support with advanced challenges. Whether your child is building reading confidence or refining persuasive writing, our enhanced approach ensures they develop the fluency and creativity to thrive in an interconnected world.

– G1–8 ELA classes will run simultaneously with English, increasing the amount of individualised instructional time.

– Dedicated resources and/or textbooks tailored for multi-language learners.

– Standardised testing to track and communicate progress.

Chapter 5: Spaces to Inspire

Imagine your little one in a classroom where walls dissolve into sensory gardens, mud kitchens, and innovation labs. Our transformed Early Years spaces merge indoor and outdoor learning, fostering creativity, collaboration, and a lifelong love of discovery. Additionally, expect a refreshed Mermaid’s Park for the young and young at heart.

– Classrooms restructured into more spacious learning environments

– Nature-inspired furnishings for a serene atmosphere.

– G1–2 classrooms relocated within the Early Years block, with access to new play spaces.

Chapter 6: Future-Proofing Minds—Maths & Beyond

Maths is the basis of logical and systems thinking. For our youngest learners, Primary Maths is evolving to prioritise conceptual mastery, blending hands-on problem-solving with real-world applications.

– More heuristic strategies taught which are aligned with Singapore MOE’s latest developments.

– New Maths textbooks for G1–2 students.

Chapter 7: Pathways to the World

While IB Diploma Programme remains our flagship high school academic programme, new Advanced Placement (AP) subject options make available unique pathways for talented students to choose from. With AP courses and WASC accreditation, our SSIS Diploma opens doors to prestigious universities worldwide.

– AP options made available to G9-12 students

– Tailored to individual students’ needs

Chapter 8: Expanding Horizons: Global Excursions & Service Learning

This year, we’re redefining experiential learning for Senior School students. For the first time in years, pupils will choose from international excursions alongside immersive trips within China. These journeys are more than sightseeing—they’re designed to align with service learning, sustainability, and cultural exchange. Whether restoring ecosystems or collaborating with peers abroad, students will apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

– All in-Shanghai trips for all grades are covered by the school.

– G6–11 students can self-fund out-of-Shanghai excursions.

Chapter 9: The Family Academy—Learning Together, Growing Together

At SSIS, we believe learning is a family journey. When your child enrols, your entire family joins our thriving community. Introducing the SSIS Family Academy—a series of workshops, events, and resources designed to empower parents, caregivers, and siblings to learn, connect, and grow together.

Education thrives when families and schools partner deeply. Through the Family Academy, we offer:

– Educational programmes led by faculty and parent experts.

– Sports, cultural, and hands-on activities for families.

– Volunteer opportunities to enrich our SSIS community.

This isn’t just about supporting your child—it’s about enriching your family’s collective journey. “It takes a village to raise a child. At SSIS, we’re that village—raising the Future Global Leader.”
