Dear SSIS families,
We are delighted to announce the enhanced Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program in SSIS this academic year. We have prioritised SEL for each of our three divisions. It is an exciting development for our school because it will help our students become more emotionally intelligent and well-rounded. Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of learning how to identify, understand and manage emotions, develop meaningful relationships, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions.

The Harmony and ISCA SEL curriculum focuses on skills such as expressing feelings, building and maintaining relationships, handling difficult situations, and being creative and flexible in problem-solving. The California College and Career Readiness Standard focuses on career interest development and seeking knowledge through learning and exploration.
We believe this new curriculum and weekly/bi-weekly focus on these skills and abilities will be meaningful in strengthening our student’s social and emotional development.
