T1W4 – 22 Sept 2023
Dear SSIS families,
We have had a very positive start to the Sabres Athletics Programme. Here’s a quick update:
CISSA Football/Soccer:
Typically, the training season starts in Mid-September, but this year we have started earlier to better prepare our teams. Our CISSA Footballers have been training for a number of weeks now and will start playing games after the Mid-Autumn Holiday.
Please note that many games will be played on Tuesdays (for girls) and Thursdays (for boys) in addition to the season ending CISSA tournament on Saturday, December 9th.
SISAC D1 Volleyball:
Very busy start to our teams, with a few training sessions in hand, they went straight into action with SISAC fixtures. We had our first game on September 12 vs BISS where both teams pulled their first win of the season. Following that, we played vs YCIS where our girls pulled another win and the boys fell short after taking their game to a third set. On September 19, both teams played away vs SCIS; they played well, but didn’t win their games.
SISAC D2 Volleyball:
Our developing D2 teams have been active with 3 games in their pockets vs BISS, YCIS and SCIS. Although they didn’t win their opening games, both teams are on the right track and showing great progress.
Please join me in congratulating all athletes and coaches for the fine work they are doing!
Ongoing Recruitment:
With the exception of SISAC volleyball, we still have spots available in our CISSA teams (Football (soccer), Cross Country and Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee). Please get in touch with our program assistant Ms. Frances Wan at wan_ya_fen@ssis.asia if you wish to inquire about the training schedule or if you wish to schedule tryout session for your child.
Thank you for your continued support for our athletics programme!
~ Go Sabres!
Sincerely,
Joseph ATTYA
