Dear SSIS Parents,
As we step into the final stretch of another wonderful school year, I’m delighted to reflect on a month filled with energy, growth, and meaningful connection across our community.
Our Grades 3–6 Sabres gave it their all at the Track & Field Day on April 24, filling the day with cheers, fast finishes, and outstanding sportsmanship. From the 1500m run to the house relays, every athlete showed heart and determination. Meanwhile, our recent Parent Engagement Programme session, “Raising Resilient Children,” offered a powerful reminder that challenges help us grow. Parents left with practical strategies for supporting homework without taking over, and a shared understanding that resilience is built into one small setback at a time.
Our Grades 4–6 students have completed their end-of-year exams; we saw remarkable focus and perseverance, especially from our Grade 4 students who have now grown into confident, experienced test-takers.
Each of these moments reflects the curiosity, determination, and compassion that make our SSIS community so special. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Grade 3–6 Track & Field Day – A Thrilling Recap!
On April 24, our Grades 3–6 students took over the track and field for an unforgettable day filled with energy, effort, and excellent sportsmanship. From the opening 1500m run to the final house relays, our young athletes gave their all, in track events, vortex throw, and long jump. A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who managed timekeeping, field events, relay changeovers, and crowd marshalling, as well as our chaperones who stayed with each grade group throughout the day. The stands were buzzing with parent support, and we couldn’t be prouder of how every student competed with heart and cheered for one another. Congratulations to all participants, you made it a day to remember!

PEP Session: Raising Resilient Children – Helping Your Child Bounce Back From Challenges
Thank you to all the parents who joined us for our recent Parent Education Programme (PEP) session, “Raising Resilient Children conducted by Ms Joy and Ms April. Ms. April led a thoughtful and engaging discussion on how we can help our children navigate setbacks, manage difficult emotions, and develop the inner strength to keep trying. One highlight of the session was her reading a different version of the classic Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme. The story resonated deeply with many parents, serving as a powerful metaphor for how children learn to bounce back from disappointment and failure.
Many parents raised thoughtful questions about supporting children with homework, particularly how to strike the right balance between helping and fostering independence, and what to do when a child becomes frustrated or avoids challenging tasks. Ms. April and Ms Joy offered practical strategies, including creating consistent routines, praising effort over outcomes, and allowing children to struggle productively before stepping in. A key takeaway was that resilience isn’t about never struggling; it’s about knowing you have the tools and support to get through it. Thank you again to everyone who attended and contributed to such a valuable conversation. We look forward to seeing you next year at our PEP sessions!
