Early Years News

26 September 2025

Dear Early Years Parents,

Since the start of the term, our Early Years students have been fully immersed in the joy of their newly renovated classrooms and activity rooms, eagerly engaging in creative play, sensory exploration, and collaborative learning across the fresh, open-ended spaces designed just for them. The environment continues to inspire curiosity, independence, and a love for discovery each day.

Students are also enjoying the brand-new Discovery Zone—a dynamic space designed for creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning. Each Friday morning, Grades 1 and 2 visit the space for Sabre’s Adventure, while our Early Years students gather there for their weekly assemblies. This new area has already become a vibrant hub of joyful learning and discovery.

SSIS Anniversary & Sabre Fun Day Celebration

We kicked off September with a joyful Anniversary Celebration (3rd Sept), marking our 29th year of learning and growth at SSIS. Students from the whole school came together for a joint assembly, followed by cake at lunch to commemorate the occasion.

The celebrations continued with our much-anticipated Sabre Fun Day, filled with exciting games, activities, and house spirit! A special thank you goes out to the Parent Support Group (PSG) for their enthusiastic support and contributions, helping to make this community event such a success.

Autumn Excursions: Learning Beyond the Classroom

September was full of rich, hands-on learning as our Early Years students set out on a series of exciting autumn excursions that brought their units of inquiry to life.

Our Family Class students visited Evergreen Farm, where they explored the outdoors, interacted with animals at the petting zoo, and learned about nature through sensory play and exploration.

In connection with their unit on Community Helpers, our K1 students took a trip to Papa John’s, where they met real-life cooks, explored the pizza-making process, and learned about how a restaurant business operates. The highlight of their visit was, of course, creating their very own pizzas—and enjoying every bite!

Our adventurous K2 students spent the day at Sun Island, where they explored the natural surroundings, built friendships through group games, and experienced the joy of outdoor learning.

These excursions helped students make meaningful connections to the world around them and created lasting memories filled with discovery and delight.

Packing Snacks for ASPs

A gentle reminder to please pack a healthy snack for your child to enjoy before their After School Programme (ASP). Having a snack helps children refuel after a busy school day, keeps their energy levels steady, and allows them to stay focused and engaged during their activities. Thank you for supporting your child’s well-being and learning.

Communicating with Teachers

We value home and school communication and appreciate the ongoing communication that supports your child’s learning. To help our teachers balance their personal and professional time, we kindly ask that messages be sent between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Teachers will always do their best to respond within 24 working hours of receiving your message.
