Chinese Culture Week & Chinese New Year Celebrations

Our campus came alive with colour, music, and learning during Chinese Culture Week, culminating in a joyful Chinese New Year celebration. Throughout the week, students explored the rich traditions of China through hands-on crafts, cultural activities, and lessons about the diverse communities and customs found across the country. Classrooms were filled with creativity as students learned about traditional symbols, festive foods, and meaningful cultural practices associated with the Lunar New Year.

The celebration concluded with a vibrant school-wide performance featuring traditional dances and a spectacular lion dance, which brought excitement and good fortune for the new year. Students also had the opportunity to sample traditional foods and deepen their understanding of the cultural significance behind many of the holiday traditions. It was a wonderful way for our school community to celebrate heritage, learning, and togetherness.

SingCham Cultural Performances

On Sunday, March 1st, several of our Early Years student groups proudly represented the school at a SingCham event celebrating Singaporean culture. Hosted on our campus, the event welcomed families and community members to experience music, culture, and student talent.

Our young performers delighted the audience with songs, dances, and a special performance from the Early Years and Parent Choir. Their confidence, enthusiasm, and joyful energy made the performances memorable and highlighted the strong partnership between families and the school community.

K1 Featured Assembly

Our K1 students took the stage for their Featured Assembly on Wednesday, March 4th, delighting the audience with a lively program that highlighted their learning. Students confidently sang songs in Chinese and shared an interactive retelling of the story “The Selfish Crocodile.” They also demonstrated their growing physical skills through a PE showcase featuring jumping, skipping, and running.

Following the performance, families joined their children for a hands-on classroom activity where they worked together to create animal habitat dioramas. This interactive experience allowed parents to engage in their child’s learning while celebrating the creativity and curiosity of our youngest learners.

Grade 1 Family Day

On Friday, March 6th, Grade 1 families were welcomed into classrooms for Family Day, where students had the opportunity to showcase their learning. A highlight of the event was the display of student-designed housing models, created as part of their inquiry into how homes must adapt to different environmental climates. Students explained how their designs used specific materials and structural features to support conditions such as heat, cold, wind, or heavy rain.

The celebration also included a sweet song prepared especially for parents, followed by time for families to explore the classroom displays. Parents and students enjoyed sharing cultural snacks generously brought in by families, creating a warm atmosphere of community and connection. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student learning and strengthen the partnership between home and school.

K2 Participates in Mini Debate

As part of our K2 Chinese unit on “Wind,” students turned into energetic little debaters to tackle an important question: Is wind good or bad? The class split into two teams and eagerly shared their opinions with evidence, like wind helps kites fly and wind blows hats away!

Students took on special roles to make the debate even more exciting. One student acted as the host, guiding the discussion, while the scorekeeper carefully tracked points and the judges listened closely before cheering for their teams. There was lots of enthusiasm, thoughtful ideas, and even a little friendly competition.

Through this playful activity, students practiced speaking, listening, and quick thinking, while also learning about teamwork and following rules. Counting the scores added a fun touch of math, making the experience a lively mix of language, collaboration, and joyful learning.

STEAM Week: Exploring, Experimenting, and Discovering

From March 9th–13th, our Early Years students enjoyed an exciting STEAM Week, filled with hands-on activities that sparked curiosity and creativity. Throughout the week, classrooms transformed into mini laboratories where students explored science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through interactive experiments and creative projects.

Students investigated fascinating concepts through activities such as fossil making and static electricity experiments in Family Class, rainbow rain and float-and-sink investigations in K1, and pagoda building and microscope exploration in K2. Later in the week, the Discovery Zone became a Little Science Gallery, where classes had the opportunity to showcase their experiments and visit displays created by their peers. This allowed students to observe new ideas, try different activities, and celebrate one another’s learning in a collaborative environment. STEAM Week was a wonderful opportunity for our young learners to explore, experiment, and develop their curiosity about how the world works.
