Dear SSIS Parents,
As we enter the final part of the school year, I want to acknowledge that this can be a busy and demanding time for our entire community, especially for parents. Whether your child is in Early Years, Primary, or Senior school, the combination of events, deadlines, and year-end activities can feel overwhelming. At the same time, this period is filled with wonderful moments of growth and celebration.
I would like to share a few practical strategies to help you support your child’s academic journey while managing your own wellbeing. With a little preparation, we can all move toward summer break feeling positive and balanced.
Stay organised
Create a simple schedule or to‑do list to track school events, due dates, and deadlines. Prioritise tasks and break them into smaller, manageable steps. Please check our school portals. Keep your children’s teachers in mind, too: try to complete permission slips, RSVPs, and other paperwork promptly. And because we all receive many emails and messages, make a habit of marking key information on your calendar as soon as you read it, so nothing gets buried.
Manage your time effectively
Whenever possible, take care of tasks right away, for example, filling out a Schoolsbuddy permission form the moment it comes home. If your evenings are busy, plan and continue to check in with your child so you do not miss any “news”.
Collaborate when helpful
This is a great time to connect with other SSIS parents. Attending events together or sharing pickup duties after a special gathering can ease the load when you are juggling multiple children and activities.
Take care of your family’s health
Remember that a healthy lifestyle supports everything else. Prioritise enough sleep, nutritious meals, and regular exercise for everyone in the family. When you feel well, you are better able to help your child finish the year with confidence.
Above all, please remember that this intense period is temporary. With a few strategies in place, you can reduce stress and help your family transition smoothly into the well‑earned summer break. This last period of each school year is very important to your child, and it is worth celebrating! Thank you for your continued partnership and dedication.
Stronger Together,
Mr. Shirley
