Dear Primary Parents,
As we wrap up Term 1 and begin Term 2, we would like to thank our families for their continued support throughout a busy and productive start to the school year. A highlight this month was our wonderful International Family Bazaar, where our community came together to celebrate culture, connection, and togetherness in true Sabre fashion. It was truly a joyful event, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed to its success.
Student Council Updates
Our Student Council continues to work hard to support student life and strengthen our school community. This month, the student body completed the voting process for Student Council leadership, and we are pleased to announce that our President and Vice President have now been elected. Congratulations to Vera Lee (President) and Scarlett Zhang (Vice President) on being chosen by their peers. We look forward to seeing their leadership in action, and we extend our thanks to Ms Avie for her ongoing guidance and support of the Student Council.

Reading Extravaganza
Our Reading Extravaganza launched with great excitement as our Student Council brought the story The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything to life on stage for the whole school. Their energetic performance set the tone for this year’s “Genre Galaxy” theme, where every classroom became a planet of imagination and discovery. The launch assembly also featured our much-loved Book Character Dress-Up Parade, with students from Family Class to Senior School proudly showcasing their creativity. Throughout the week, students dove into a wide range of reading activities across all subjects, strengthening both their literacy and their love for stories.

International Family Bazaar
Our annual International Family Bazaar was a wonderful celebration of community spirit and cultural diversity. The event was a tremendous success, thanks to the hard work of our Parent Support Group and the many teachers who hosted engaging games booths for students. Families enjoyed exploring a lively mix of community vendor stalls and tasting a variety of delicious international cuisines. A highlight was watching our primary students visit the booths and shine on stage with musical and dance performances. It was a joyous day filled with connection, creativity, and shared memories that truly brought our school community together.

Building Community Through Classroom Circles
Across the Primary Division, teachers and students are intentionally dedicating time each week to building strong, connected classroom communities through the use of Community Circles and Restorative Circles.
Community Circles focus on trust, empathy, and connection, giving every child a voice and space to share thoughts and experiences in a respectful setting. Restorative Circles provide a structured, supportive way to address conflicts, repair harm, and rebuild relationships when needed.
Each grade level follows a consistent schedule:
- Grades 1, 3, 4 and 5 facilitate Circles on Mondays.
- Grade 2 facilitates Circles on Thursdays.
- Grade 6 holds Community Circles on Mondays and Restorative Circles on Thursdays when needed.
Having a dedicated time and safe space for these conversations allows students to proactively build positive relationships and collaboratively solve problems when challenges arise.
We encourage you to support your child by participating openly in these opportunities. If your child has a concern they’d like to bring to a circle, they are welcome to share it with their teacher, or you can reach out directly to the homeroom teacher for support. Together, we are creating a school culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and student voice.
