Dear Parents,
The 2024-2025 academic year at SSIS has started with incredible momentum. Students returned to school with positive attitudes, showing excellent behaviour and engagement from day one. From the first day of school on August 20th, there has been a buzz of excitement in the air, and the dedication of our staff has shone through.
Our teachers have worked tirelessly to ensure that every child has a smooth start, creating an environment that fosters both learning and community. The efforts of our SSIS team have been evident, particularly during the Orientation Day on August 17th, where staff warmly welcomed new and returning families, ensuring they felt at home in our learning spaces.
The sense of community has been further strengthened through a variety of engaging events. The House Shirt Days (August 30th and September 6th) saw students proudly wearing their house colours, fostering school spirit and camaraderie. The G11 & 12 DP Camp at Sun Island also took place on August 30th, where students demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and deepened their bonds with both peers and staff in a collaborative environment.
On September 6th, the Sabres’ Fun Fair brought our school community together for a day of fun and learning. The event was filled with activities, including an ASP showcase, which highlighted the incredible extracurricular achievements of our students.
In addition to these events, Teachers’ Day on September 10th provided an opportunity for our community to reflect on the unwavering commitment of our educators. Their hard work and passion have been integral to the successful start of the year, and their dedication continues to inspire our students every day.
With many more exciting activities planned for the coming months—such Nature Fest and our Autumn Excursions —SSIS is well on its way to making this year one of the most memorable yet. Our collective focus on character building, leadership, and holistic education is already yielding visible results, and we are excited to expand and support our individual approach to each student’s journey.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy National Holiday period! Enjoy the break, and we look forward to seeing you all back at school on Monday, October 7th. Stay well and take care!
Stronger Together,
Mr. Shirley
