Message from Head of School

The Power of Open Communication

At SSIS, our educational philosophy is built upon a foundation of strong, positive partnerships between home and school. We firmly believe that your child’s success and holistic wellbeing are nurtured through a consistent, supportive, and collaborative dialogue. Open communication is the very thread that weaves this partnership together, and we are deeply committed to ensuring every family feels empowered to engage in it.

The most vital connection in your child’s educational journey is the one between you and their class or subject teacher. This relationship is the cornerstone of our entire support system, a dynamic relationship forged from shared hopes for your child’s growth. Our teachers are not just educators; they are dedicated partners who genuinely care. They are always willing, and in fact eager, to make time for you. By sharing your unique insights about your child, you provide invaluable pieces of the puzzle, allowing us to see the whole picture and support them more effectively together.

Therefore, I actively encourage you to lean into this partnership. You have the right to meet with your child’s teachers at any point, and we urge you to trust that instinct to connect. If a question arises, no matter how small it may seem, please reach out. Proactive communication is the key to preventing small uncertainties from growing and ensures we are working in harmony from the very start.

To facilitate meaningful conversations, we kindly ask that you arrange a meeting via our official channels or your divisional PA. This allows teachers to be fully prepared to focus on your child. For matters requiring further support, our network is robust and ready: from Grade Level Coordinators and our Counselling team to Heads of Department and school leadership. Please also remember we offer translation services to ensure no barrier stands in the way of clear understanding.

Your child’s journey is our shared responsibility. By strengthening the essential three-way partnership between teacher, student, and parent, we create a circle of support, ensuring every child at SSIS feels known, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Finally, I would like to remind all parents about our upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences (PTC). Attending these conferences is a vital partnership opportunity that significantly enhances your child’s educational journey. They provide a meaningful space to celebrate your child’s progress, discuss their unique strengths and areas for growth, and enable us to align our efforts in supporting their development—both academically and personally.

By connecting directly with your child’s teacher, you help build a strong, collaborative relationship that reinforces a consistent and supportive learning environment. Your active participation not only shows your child that their education is valued but also empowers us to work together in nurturing their confidence, well-being, and lifelong love of learning.

The end-of-term conferences are scheduled for Saturday, 29 November. Please note that our online booking system will be open from 8:00 am on Monday, 10 November until 4:00 pm on Monday, 24 November. You can access the booking system via SchoolsBuddy. Further information will follow.

We look forward to productive conversations with you.
