Senior School News

Ending the Year with Pride and Purpose

As we culminate the Grade 7–11 internal examination period at the end of this week, I would like to congratulate our students on their efforts and perseverance. Examinations provide an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning, reflect on their progress, and identify areas for further growth. When results are released, I encourage parents to take time to discuss these with their child, celebrate successes, and explore opportunities for improvement. Please ask to see marked examination papers where appropriate, as these can provide valuable insight into strengths, misconceptions, and next steps. Open and supportive dialogue between home and school plays a vital role in helping students develop confidence and a growth mindset.

Then, as we move into the final weeks of the academic year, our calendar remains full of exciting events, celebrations, and opportunities for students to come together as a community. Please refer to the Key Dates section at the end of this newsletter to ensure you are aware of the many activities taking place. We would love to see as many parents as possible join us for our Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony and End-of-Year Prize Giving. These special occasions provide an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and growth of our students and are highlights of the Senior School calendar.

While anticipation for the summer holidays is building, we ask students to maintain high standards of attendance, punctuality, and uniform presentation right through to the last day of term. These final weeks are a valuable time to enjoy friendships, celebrate achievements, and make lasting memories with teachers and classmates. Students should also begin clearing out their lockers and checking the Lost Property area for any missing belongings before the end of the school year.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to a positive and rewarding conclusion to another successful year in the Senior School.

Warm regards,

Ms. Shireen NAIDOO – Senior School Principal

Lower Secondary Program Updates

It is hard to believe that we are now in the final weeks of the academic year. This week, the Grade 7 & 8 students began their End of Year Examinations, which is a great opportunity for students to celebrate their hard work throughout the year and find out their gaps to continue their journey in IGCSE. On Tuesday, I shared some strategies with the students and methods to have a successful week of exams and revision. Please encourage your child to stay focused, organised, and balanced during this busy period. Their hard work and commitment at this stage will help them build a strong foundation for the rest of their educational journey.

Recently, we also hosted the Grade 6 Students and Parents and welcomed them to the Senior School. This was a great opportunity to connect, build relationships and introduce the great programmes that we have here in the Senior School.

Here are a few photos of the days below:

Mr. David Herring, CLSP Coordinator

Our Grade 9 students are in the midst of their end of year exams, which an important way of checking progress through IGCSE. In just a few weeks they will be on holiday, recharging for the next part of their IGCSE journey.

Our Grade 10 students are also approaching the end of an important period – there are just a few more weeks of exams to go before they reach the end of their IGCSE journey and a chance to rest before they begin their IBDP challenge.

As part of their preparation for this new challenge, the students were invited to the Grade 11 My IB Journey, so that they could get a preview of what is required of them for the DP core, and to ask the Grade 11 students questions about what to expect and how to cope with the new challenges ahead of them.

My IB Journey is a showcase of the IBDP Core (Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay and CAS), with the TOK component being an assessed requirement for the Diploma.

IBDP updates

Grade 12:

We are delighted to share that the Grade 12 IB examinations have now ended. We are incredibly proud of our Grade 12 students for their hard work and resilience throughout the two years of IBDP.

Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony and Graduation Dinner

The Grade 12 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Friday, 5 June, in the school Performing Arts Centre. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 am, and we kindly request all parents to arrive by 10:50 AM and students to arrive by 10:00 AM. A formal invitation and further details with a QR code to sign up has been shared with parents via email and ManageBac

Grade 12 students are also expected to attend the graduation rehearsals on Wednesday, 3 June at 10:15 am and Thursday, 4 June at 8:15 am. These rehearsals are important to ensure that the ceremony runs smoothly.

The Graduation Ceremony will be followed by the Graduation Dinner at Hilton Hongqiao Airport, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Parents have been emailed with further details about payment and next steps. We look forward to celebrating this special milestone together and making the occasion special for our graduating class of 2026.

Request for Results to be Sent to Universities

Gentle reminder: An email containing the survey form and all details for requesting IB results to be sent to universities was shared with students in April. All students are required to complete this form by 30 May 2026. After this deadline, any further requests should be sent to the me directly by email (only until 2nd July 2026).

IB results will be released on 6 July 2026 from 12:00 GMT, and I will share further details regarding the results process later.

Grade 11

Our Grade 11 students are now completing their end-of-year examinations and are continuing to work on their coursework requirements. After the examination period, students will begin focusing more formally on their Internal Assessments. We kindly request all parents to stay in regular communication with subject teachers and to check in with your child about their academic progress. A coursework calendar will also be shared with students, outlining key submission deadlines for all the subjects.

Please encourage your child to stay focused, organised, and balanced during this busy period. Their hard work and time management at this stage will help them build a strong and balanced foundation for Grade 12.
