As we begin to plan for the next academic year, I would like to share some key staffing updates with you.
Director Appointments
Director of Sports and Activities
Mr. Joseph Attya has been successfully appointed to the role of Director of Sports and Activities for the next academic year. Joseph is currently the Director of Athletics and Sports Academics at the Canadian International School of Guangzhou. He has been working in China since 2017 and has previous international teaching experiences in Egypt and Canada. Joseph is very excited to be joining SSIS. I look forward to meeting with him again this weekend at the ACAMIS Spring Conference. Joseph’s experience will enable SSIS to extend and enrich the highly successful programme that Ms Katie helped develop over the last ten years.
Director of Aesthetics
Mr. Michael Hicks has been successfully appointed to the role of Director of Aesthetics for the next academic year. Michael has already made a positive impact on the school’s aesthetics programme, and we look forward to him taking on this larger role next year. Michael has an in-depth knowledge of the Shanghai music industry as both a performer and an educator. This knowledge will help SSIS grow its music and aesthetics programme within our school and the wider Shanghai community. This is an exciting appointment.
Primary School Principal
Please note that Ms. Ramida Din will finish her tenure as Primary Division Principal at the end of this academic year. We thank Ms. Din for contributing to the school and we wish her all the best for her future. The school is already finalizing the search for the next Primary Principal, and I am very happy to announce that we have already received several highly qualified applicants from both internal and external parties. I look forward to announcing Ms Din’s replacement in the coming weeks. Our short-listed candidates are all experienced international leaders with a strong understanding of Singaporean education within an international context. This next appointment will work closely with me as Head of School, the CLT and the rest of the Primary Staff so that we can capitalise on our rich history, curriculum innovation, pedagogy, and incredible student body.
