T3W10 – 26 May 2023

Let’s Go Sabres!

On the 15th of May, our CISSA Track & Field athletes put their spikes on for the first time in 3 years. After missing out for so long, our students were eager to take to the track and compete in their first meet hosted at SAS Puxi. Despite being inexperienced, our young Sabre athletes stood out and blew the competition away with their speed, strength and determination (even cheering!)

Stand-out Individual Performances:

Lee Sungchul (G8) competing in the Grade 7/8 age category

  • 2nd place in 100m (12.14s)
  • 1st place in Long Jump (4.33m)
  • 1st place in Shot Put (10.98m)

Anna Takeda (G6) competing in the Grade 6 age category

  • 2nd place in 100m (15.15)
  •  2nd place in 200m (32.69)
  • 1st place in 300m (53.22)

Marcus Huang (G6) competing in the Grade 6 age category

  • 3rd place in 100m (13.82)
  • 1st place in 300m (52.82)

A special shout out also to the relay teams who blasted past the other competitors. All our relay teams finished in first place in the Grade 7/8 age category!

Girls 4x100m – Nora Navarro Yu (G8 – also 1st place in 100m [13.13s]), Tanisha Chaudhury (G7 – also 2nd place in 100m [14.74s]), Anna Takeda (G6) & Durva Vadgama

Boys 4x100m and 4x400m – Lee Sungchul (G8), Nishant Kapoor (G8 – also 2nd place in Long Jump [4.20m], 2nd place in 300m [46.61] and 2nd place in 800m [3.02.10]), Chung Jinyoung (G7 – also 3rd place in 100m [12.73s]) and Marcus Huang (G6)

Boys Grade 6 800m race Akira went head-to-head with a student from another school. They were close until they started their sprint finish with 300m to go. Our young Sabre managed to outrun the opponent to cross the finish line first, making it a very thrilling race.

Congratulations to everyone on their efforts and their many successes. Thank you also to the parents who were able to make it out and spectate. We truly hope that these young athletes had a fun afternoon and that they will continue their journey with track and pass the torch on to the younger generation. They are all an inspiration, and we hope that this is just the start of bigger things to come.

Keep that Sabre Spirit up!

Sincerely,

Katrina SENARATNA
