T3W12 – 9 June 2023
Tis the Sabres season to celebrate!
Our SSIS Sabres had 2 events to recognize our student athletes and the hard-working community that it takes to make these reasons happen. We had our Sports Awards Night for teams in grade 9-12 and our Junior Sabres Sports celebration for individual and CISSA sports teams from this academic year.
Sports Awards Night
Sports Awards Night was planned by our student led Sabres Crew. The theme this year was “draft night” and is aimed to be a culmination of all the hard work and dedication put in by the student athletes and coaches. We had student emcees, Junior helpers, artist decorations, musical performances and dancers! The event was a huge success, and truly represented our culture and motto – Stronger Together.
Inspiring speeches were given by each team’s Captain and Coach. They shared the journey of the team and for many the growth in both skill and teamwork. The ceremony highlights included team achievements and individual award recipients for Most Improved Player, Commitment to Excellence, Most Valuable Player, and Players’ Player; which was chosen by the teammates themselves.
The event was also an opportunity for the student athletes to express their gratitude to their coaches for their guidance and support throughout the year. It was a touching moment that showcased the strong bond that has been formed.
Junior Sports Celebration
Our Junior Sabres and individual team athletes had the opportunity to celebrate their successes and also a full year of sports activities. The afternoon started with the students, parents and alumni participating in many activities such as golf, volleyball, basketball and soccer. Meanwhile at swimming, our Sabres swim team took to the pool to try smash their personal bests all before digging into a wonderful BBQ prepared by our wonderful kitchen staff. It was a fun evening dedicated to acknowledging and encouraging the young athletes to continue their quest for excellence in sports.
The highlight of course had to be the short awards ceremony where the swim team received a small gift for their participation this academic year and record-breaking event plus certificates, golf and CISSA sports recognized outstanding commitment and achievement.
Sincerely,
