T3W12 – 9 June 2023
Dear Parents,
A Year in Review
We have started the 2022/23 school year with uncertainties and a cloud over our heads. Every staff and student had to take a Covid-test each day. The rise of cases in December led to school closure. We stepped into the new year 2023 with distance learning, which morphed into hybrid learning.
Just as everyone felt we couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, the Covid restrictions were relaxed, and face-to-face learning resumed in January 2023. We welcomed many parents who participated in the recent events and assemblies. The sense of community is back. We were delighted to see you at the school and team up with us as partners-in-action.
As the school year ends, we wish you and your family a fantastic time in the summer reconnecting with your loved ones. SSIS looks forward to further strengthening our home-school ties in the new school year to serve our precious children in collaboration.
The Pathfinder is given to SSIS students who exemplify the qualities of highly developed holistic students and demonstrate leadership characteristics. The Award recognizes a student who has, above all other students, demonstrated exemplary behaviour that could serve as a source of inspiration to everyone. The Pathfinder winner possesses significant virtues and qualities that epitomize a highly developed, holistic student. Every year, the Primary school awards one deserving student.
This year’s Pathfinder Award recipient is VADGAMA, Durva Miteshkumar (Grade 6 Angsana). Durva has been a member of SSIS since kindergarten. She is the Student of the Year awardee in Grade 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. She has been serving as a Student Councilor since Grade 5. She is the Best-in-Class Award winner in Grade 6. Durva has represented the school in many interschool competitions. Congratulations to Durva! We are so proud of her achievements!
The Student of the Year is a prestigious award that is held in high regard and is given to the best and most deserving student in each class. This student must consistently demonstrate the 8 SSIS Learner Attributes (compassion, empathetic, communicative, respectful, reflective, open-minded, courageous, resilient) throughout the whole year. They have shown these attributes not only in the classroom but also during recess and in everyday school life. All subject teachers voted for the most deserving student and the winners were vetted by the principals. Below are the winners of the Student of the Year for 2022/23.

This year, English, Math, and Chinese will provide summer homework to support student learning during the summer months. The goal is to give students regular contact with their academic subject to prevent students from regressing, which can be a common occurrence during long holidays. We appreciate your support in reminding your child to complete their work regularly during the summer and to turn in the completed assignments to your child’s teachers in August. Detailed information will be sent out by the subject teachers during the final week of school via ManageBac.
Best regards,
Ms Ramida Din (Primary School Principal)
Mr Tony Rampton (Primary School Assistant Principal)
