T2W4 – 12 Jan 2024
Dear Sabres Family,
Happy New Year. Here is a quick update on our sports programme.
CISSA Volleyball
After a highly successful season one in CISSA, we are now commencing season two for core sports with volleyball tryouts and training. This week we have conducted tryouts for our boys’ and girls’ teams. I strongly encourage all students in grades 6 to 8 to participate!
CISSA Badminton
Our CISSA (G6 – G8) team are continuing to train and work hard. They will soon represent SSIS in the upcoming CISSA Badminton Tournament.
SISAC Basketball
We are back in action with SISAC fixtures. Our D1 boys continue to deliver strong performances. Currently, they hold the second seed in the west division with 5 wins and 1 loss. Our D1 girls’ team is currently seeded fourth in the west division, with 2 wins and 2 losses. The D2 boys’ team holds the seventh seed with 2 wins and 4 losses. We have a few more SISAC fixtures scheduled in the upcoming weeks before our teams conclude their SISAC season with the season-ending tournaments on January 20th.
Big Events This Month
- On January 20, our three SISAC basketball teams will participate in the SISAC’s season-ending tournaments, one of which we will be hosting—the D1 Boys SISAC Cup.
- Our swim team will be participating in SSL Round 3 on January 20-21 in Nanjing.
- We will also be travelling to Guangzhou to participate in ACAMIS Basketball tournament scheduled from January 24-27.
- ACAMIS Football To Be Hosted By SSIS: Originally scheduled to take place in Guangzhou, the ACAMIS football tournament faced a hurdle when one of the schools designated as the host was unable to fulfill their role. In light of this, we have stepped forward and offered to host the tournament ourselves. While it is undoubtedly a massive undertaking, I am confident that we possess the necessary resources, facilities, and support to host an exceptional tournament for our school and community. ACAMIS football tournament will held from April 18th to April 20th, 2024.
Our Athletics Programme’s Core Values:
SSIS is dedicated to offering our student athletes a secure, supportive, and inclusive environment for the sports they train and compete in. We aim to foster the holistic development of our athletes, encompassing their physical, tactical, social, and psychological growth.
Thank you for your continued support for our athletics programme.
~ Go Sabres!
Sincerely,
Joseph ATTYA
