I hope this newsletter finds you in good autumn spirits as October quickly draws to a close.
Autumn Excursions
Last week, three year levels of curious and competent learners embarked on memorable autumn excursions that provided them with authentic experiences and valuable opportunities for growth. They had the chance to learn and discover outside the classroom, fostering their curiosity and expanding their knowledge.
Our Nursery learners explored the farm, fed animals and picked vegetables!
Our K1 learners visited a number of community helpers as part of their unit of inquiry. They practiced executive functioning by following a map and ended the day with making pizza at a local pizzeria!
Our K2 explorers headed to the Shanghai Zoo and observed various animals from around the world. I joined the K2 students and enjoyed seeing how incredibly confident and resilient our learners were! They asked questions, made comparisons, shared experiences and helped each other!
SSIS Reading Extravaganza: November 6th – November 10th
We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Reading Extravaganza, which will take place from November 6th to November 10th. This event is designed to celebrate the joy of reading and promote literacy among our preschoolers. Throughout the week, our classes will engage in various activities to ignite their love for books and storytelling.
- Monday, 6th November (Character Dress Up Day)
- Tuesday, 7th November (Drama Day)
- Wednesday, 8th November – (Bring A Favourite Book to School Day)
- Thursday, 9th November – Multilingual Reading (Chinese Day):
- Friday, 10th November – Cozy Reading Day (Pyjama Day)
Opportunities for Parent Readers:
We believe that parental involvement plays a vital role in fostering a love for reading. As part of the Reading Extravaganza, we would like to invite parents to volunteer as guest readers in our classrooms. If you are interested in participating, please contact your child’s teacher.
