T2W9 – 10 Feb 2023
Dear Parents,
I was delighted to see many of you visiting our campus this week. It certainly gave the school a feeling of community and I look forward to many more opportunities soon.
As we look forward to the remaining half of the school year, I believe it is very important to refocus on the importance of teacher/parent communication and how best we develop positive and meaningful relationships.
There is no dearth of research and evidence showing that involved parents are crucial for a child’s educational success, but parental involvement and face-to-face communication have declined in recent years due to school restrictions and the pandemic. Fortunately for us, it seems these restrictions have passed, and we now can revisit the fundamentals for success.
To begin this conversation and action I am organising a series of parent events where we can actively participate in several forums titled “Beyond the Building – Action to support community connection and engagement”.
In these forums, parents will be invited to respond to a number of important issues such as communication modes, ICT and digital effectiveness, values and parental expectations and dreams for the future. This data and input will be shared with all community members once it has been collated.
The first forum in this series will be hosted on three different days and times. This will hopefully give many parents the opportunity to attend one of these sessions. Please click on the link below to sign up.

During the next half of the year, I will also be randomly inviting individual parents to meet with me privately to discuss their individual parent experience at SSIS.
I am very much looking forward to these opportunities as together we strive for excellence.
Yours sincerely,
