Grade 12 Graduate walk- a new SSIS Tradition
The G12 Graduate Walk on their final day symbolises the full arc of a student’s journey through our SSIS– from their earliest steps in Early Years to the threshold of life beyond Senior School. As graduates walked through the corridors of the Early Years, Primary, and Senior Divisions, they are both celebrated and seen: by younger students who are inspired by their example, by teachers who have guided them, and by a community that has shaped and been shaped by their presence. This new tradition reinforces our whole-school identity, honours growth and continuity, and reminds every learner that they are part of something bigger – a shared pursuit of excellence, purpose, and contribution.
International Friendship Day
On Friday April 11, our school community came together to celebrate International Friendship Day (IFD)—a vibrant and meaningful community highlight. The day featured cultural showcases, international food stalls, and the Grade 7 Intercultural Fair, all of which reflected the diversity and unity of our school. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the Parent Support Group (PSG) and all the volunteers whose energy and commitment made this celebration so memorable.
World Scholar‘s Cup, Track and Swim
This past week has been a remarkable showcase of student talent, commitment, and community support. We proudly hosted and excelled in the World Scholar’s Cup regional round, where our students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, critical thinking, and academic curiosity. Meanwhile, our swimmers broke records at the Shanghai Swim League meet, setting new personal bests and raising the bar for excellence. On the track and across the river, our athletics and football teams gave inspiring performances, reflecting their grit and discipline. A heartfelt thank you to all the coaches, teachers, support staff, and, of course, parents—your support made these achievements possible and continues to shape the vibrant, well-rounded student experience at SSIS.
G10 IGCSE and G12 IBDP Examinations
We wish our G10 and G12 students well as they prepare for their final IGCSE and IBDP examinations. A reminder that teachers are still available duign scheduled lesson times and I encourage all students to make the most of their expertise as they plan to close the gaps in the learning that were identified in feedback from the mock exams. Please refer to the detailled examination information from Dr Gupta and Mr Cole.
G7, 8, 9 & 11 End-of-Year Exams
We are in the final stages of preparing for the end-of-year exams for Grades 7, 8, 9, and 11. Exam schedules will be shared with you shortly. In the meantime, we encourage you to support your child in beginning their revision early. Developing a steady and well-paced review routine now will help reduce stress and build confidence as they approach their assessments.
With gratitude,
Mr Steven Gaynor
Senior School Principal
