Message from Head of School

T1W6 – 13 Oct 2023

Dear Parents,

This week, I want to address an important topic that affects our children – stress. As we all know, children of all ages can experience stress, especially during the school year. With exams, excursions, university offerings, and friendships on their minds at the moment, the pressure can become overwhelming for them.

It is crucial for us, as parents, to keep a close eye on our children and be aware of any signs of them being overwhelmed. Stress can manifest in various ways, such as changes in behaviour, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, or even physical symptoms like headaches or stomach aches. If you notice any of these signs, it is essential to address them promptly and provide the necessary support.

One way we can help our children manage stress is by being there for them. Let them know that they can always come to us with their concerns and worries. Encourage open communication and create a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing their feelings. Sometimes, just lending a listening ear can make a significant difference in their stress levels.

Another aspect of stress management is helping our children manage their time effectively. Teach them the importance of prioritising tasks and setting realistic goals. Try helping them create a timetable or a to-do list, this can assist them in organizing their responsibilities and avoiding last-minute panic. Time management skills are valuable not only during the school years but also in their future endeavours.

It is also crucial to remind our children that their wellbeing should always come first. Encourage them to take breaks, engage in activities they enjoy, and have some fun! Remind them that their worth is not solely determined by their academic achievements or social status. Building resilience and a healthy mindset is essential for their overall well-being.

Lastly, I want to remind you that you are not alone in this journey. Our SSIS team is always here to support you and your child. If you ever feel overwhelmed or need guidance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We believe in the power of collaboration and know that together, we can create a nurturing environment for our children to thrive.

Yours sincerely,

Greetings from SSIS Admissions Office!
