This year, the SSIS Swimming Programme will include all students from K2 to Senior School. The programme is designed to help students gain confidence and develop abilities in the pool environment.
Another exciting highlight is that our K2 students from Preschool will be stepping into the pool for the first time this academic year!The main focus for our preschool students will include safe entry and exit, submersion, breath control, floating, freestyle kicking and freestyle arm action.
Primary and Senior School students will have the opportunity to progress through different levels based on their ability, to ensure each student demonstrates skills improvement. To progress, students can choose various challenging grading assessments. The diversified evaluation allows for more options and encourages our students to Strive for Excellence.
Students in higher swimming levels will be introduced to more advanced swimming techniques in all four swimming strokes. (For instance, freestyle progression drills like the ‘Zipper Drill or Finger-tip Drag’, and backstroke progression drills like ‘Triple Scoop Backstroke’ or ‘Sculling Elbows to Side’.)
Students with the highest proficiency in swimming (Level 5) will learn how to master dive starts like the sitting dive, kneeling dive and standing dive. They will also be introduced to an aerobic development training programme.
At the end of the aquatic programme, all students will be assessed to determine their improvement and be awarded a certificate.
SSIS Sabres Swim Team
We are also pleased to announce that we will be hosting the first ‘SSIS Primary to Senior School – Sabres Swim Team Selection Day’ on Saturday, 12 October.
This swim trial is to select students to be a part of the school’s swim team. It will be held at the SSIS Aquatic Centre, and the trials are based on age groups. Students who meet the selection criteria will have the opportunity to enhance their skills, be able to train together as a team, and represent SSIS in competitions and swim meets.

Ages 7 – 8: 12:00 – 13:00
Slot 2:
Ages 9 – 10: 13:00 – 14:00
Slot 3:
Ages 11 – 12: 15:00 – 16:00
