Dear Families,

This term, the Preschool (Early Years) has been full of laughter, growth, nature, inquiry and play and we are only getting started! Term one was filled with exciting autumn excursions, an adventurous Reading Extravaganza Week, a wonderful community gathering at the 2nd Annual NatureFest and will finish off the term with a magical Winter Concert on December 11th! The magic that happened in each year level included native country presentations, community helper visits, messy play learning about letters and discovery walks. As we reflect, we also celebrate positive changes and look forward to further growth on our Strive for Excellence!  

本学期,幼儿部(早期教育)充满了欢笑、成长、自然、探究和游戏,而这一切仅刚刚开始!第一学期经历了激动人心的秋游、充满冒险的阅读周;温暖的幼儿部社区更是齐聚第二届自然节;即将在12月11日举办的奇幻冬季音乐将为本学期画上句号!每个年级的在园活动都精彩纷呈,包括介绍各国、拜访社区助手、丰富多样的字母学习游戏和探索之旅。在反思的同时,我们也在庆祝幼儿的积极发展,并期待着在“追求卓越”的道路上取得更大的进步! 

1. Enhanced Literacy Programme:

Embracing Early Literacy will ensure a love for literacy and lifelong learning! To this end, the Preschool has enhanced the Early Literacy programme by incorporating a full implementation of Red Rocket Readers levelled readers and standardising the use of RAZ-kids online learning platform from Pre-Nursery up to Kindergarten Two. 

早期读写能力的培养帮助幼儿保持对文学的热爱和终身学习!本学期,幼儿园加强了早期读写课程,在幼儿部各个年级全面推行《Red Rocket Reader》(红火箭分级阅读),同时统一使用RAZ-kids在线学习平台。 

2. Enriched Nature and Play-based learning opportunities:

We believe our learning space is much more than the classroom; we explore the sky, the soil and everything in between! Linking nature to literacy has also been an opportunity to enjoy great eco-literacy classes.

我们相信,幼儿的学习空间远不止于教室;我们探索天空、土壤以及生活中的一切!将自然与识字联系起来,享受精彩的生态识字课程。 

3. Enriched Social-emotional curriculum:

We have improved our social-emotional observation document and are progressively implementing a play-based model of our SSIS attributes to help our learners develop into resilient, compassionate and open-minded global citizens. 

我们优化社会情感观察教案,并逐步实施基于SSIS学习者特质的游戏化教学模式,培养学生成长为坚韧不拔、富有同情心和思想开明的世界公民。

4. Improved Chinese Reading Programme:

This academic year, we have made the cultivation of students’ independent reading ability the focus of our Chinese Reading Programme. We have selected a series of levelled reading books for K1-K2 students. During reading lessons, we have employed methods such as guided reading and group reading, ultimately leading to independent reading. We are delighted to see that students’ interest and ability in independent reading have improved. 

本学年我们把培养学生自主阅读能力作为阅读教学的重点来进行。我们为K1-K2学生挑选了《儿童分级阅读》书籍。阅读课上通过导读、小组读到最后学生自主阅读等方式,调动了学生自主参与的意识。我们欣喜地看到同学们自主阅读的兴趣和能力都得到了全面的提高。
