Dear Parents,

The first term has been a whirlwind of enthusiasm, growth and discovery. As the students settled into their routines the classrooms transformed into vibrant spaces of learning and collaboration. Our dedicated teachers have worked tirelessly to create engaging lessons and foster a positive learning environment, nurturing the academic and social development of each student. As we reflect on the first term, we should celebrate the accomplishments, big and small, that have paved the way for a foundation of knowledge and sense of community.  

第一学期见证了学生的热情、成长和探索之旅。随着学生们逐渐适应日常的学习生活,教室变成了充满活力的学习和合作空间。孜孜不倦的老师们全力打造引人入胜的课程,营造积极的学习环境,促进每名学生在学业和社交方面的发展。在反思第一学期的同时,我们庆祝或大或小的成就,这些成就为学生奠定了知识基础和集体意识。 

Celebrating Success & Improvements 庆祝成功和进步 

Class certificates have been introduced this year and during assemblies we celebrate the success and achievements of our students through these certificates. Class certificates serve as tangible reminders of the students’ commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. 今年推出了班级奖状。在晨会上,我们颁发奖状来庆祝学生的成功和成就。该奖状表彰学生的学业成绩和个人成长。 

 

“Sabre’s Adventure” is once again in full swing, and students are being rewarded for showing the SSIS Learner Attribute for the week. Every Friday morning, all grade levels meet in the gym where the winners are presented with the Sabre.

“Sabre的冒险之旅”再次如火如荼地开展。每周五早晨,所有年级在体育馆集合,向本周彰显SSIS学习者特质的学生授予Sabre。 

The revamped Grade level assemblies offer a valuable platform for recognising and celebrating students’ achievement, fostering a sense of accomplishments and motivation. These assemblies also develop a sense of community, encourage positive peer relationships and provide a platform for students to share what they have been learning.

年级集会调整后成为表彰和庆祝学生的成就、培养成就感和动力的一个宝贵平台。集会还培养了社区意识鼓励积极的同伴关系,并为学生提供了一个分享所学知识的平台。 

An enhanced Health Curriculum has been implemented this year and the benefits extend far beyond the classroom. A well-rounded health curriculum not only equips students with the essential knowledge about physical well-being, nutrition, and hygiene but also instills lifelong habits for a healthy lifestyle. Through interactive lessons, students learn to make informed choices regarding their physical and mental health, contributing to their overall well-being.

今年实施了优化的健康课程,其益处远远超出了课堂教学。全面的健康课程不仅能让学生掌握有关身体健康、营养和卫生的基本知识,还能培养学生养成健康生活方式的终身习惯。通过互动课程,学生们学会在身心健康方面做出明智的选择,从而促进整体健康。 

Aesthetics 美学课程 

Combined G4-12 Choir and Orchestra, K2-G3 Choir will run for the full school year (through 3 ASP seasons) 

4-12年级合唱团、 4-12年级管弦乐队、K2-G3年级合唱团将贯穿整个学年(3个课后活动季)

We are looking forward to this year’s production where all primary students will be involved. The production is not just about showcasing the talents and skills of our students; it is a celebration of unity, collaboration, and the incredible journey our students undertake together. 

我们期待着今年的演出汇报,所有小学生都将参与其中。这部作品不仅展示了学生的才华和技能;庆祝学生之间的团结与合作精神,共同走过的奇妙旅程。

开发平台,为学生提供多渠道学习领域。 

  • (ASP) G3-G11中文辩论队的同学们经过学习和训练,思辨能力和口语表达能力一定能得到提高,他们也将有机会代表学校参加校外中文辩论比赛。 
  • 开设 (ASP) K1-G2中国文化浸润学习,帮助学生体验更多的中国文化内容。 
  • (ASP) G1-G12中文支持班的开设,帮助更多同学建立学习自信心和提升中文技能的机会。 

 

  • The publication of the G1-G6 Chinese Culture textbooks, collaboratively edited and published by the entire Chinese Department faculty, will more comprehensively and systematically reflect SSIS’s Chinese cultural education.  
  • Additionally, to meet the needs of G1 Chinese teaching, the “Pinyin Castle” textbook has been curated and compiled. 
  • For K1 to G2, levelled reading books were bought and implemented. By employing strategies like guided reading and group reading, students are encouraged to participate independently.
  • An e-Level Chinese online platform has been prepared for G1-G8 basic Chinese classes to help students find suitable reading materials, enhancing their learning interests and reading comprehension abilities.  

优化课程,注重K-12学生无缝衔接和提高学生读写技能。 

  • 由中文部全体老师齐力合作编辑出版的G1-G6《中国文化》课本与本学年和同学们见面啦!教材的出版将更加完整、系统地体现SSIS中国文化教学。 
  • 根据G1中文教学的需求。本学年我们编辑整理的《拼音城堡》教材和描红本,这将帮助同学们更加有效地学习和巩固拼音知识,为他们之后的学习打下坚实的基础。 
  • 本学年我们把培养学生自主阅读能力作为阅读教学的重点来进行。我们为G1-G2学生挑选了《小羊上山分级读物》书籍。阅读课上通过导读、小组读到最后学生自主阅读等方式,调动了学生自主参与的意识。我们欣喜地看到同学们自主阅读的兴趣和能力都得到了全面的提高。
  • G1-G8 基础中文班级的学生准备了 e-Level Chinese中文阅读在线平台。帮助学生找到适合的阅读材料,提升他们学习兴趣及阅读理解能力。 
  • The third Global Chinese Writing Competition for Young Writers has been launched, and we will continue to encourage students to participate in this competition. 
  • Moreover, the Shanghai Education Commission’s competition on Chinese Culture in Foreign Children’s Schools will take place this academic year. After screening, the works of 17 students from grades K-12 will represent the school in this competition. Since the launch of this activity by the Shanghai Education Commission, our school has consistently achieved excellent results in the competition. We believe that the students will once again achieve outstanding results. 
  • 第三届国际青少年中文写作大赛已启动,我们将继续组织学生参加此比赛
  • 上海教委组织的外籍人员子女学校中国文化进校园比赛活动于本学年进行,经过筛选,来自K-12年级的17名学生的作品将代表学校参加此次比赛。自上海教委组织此活动以来,我校每次都能以优异的成绩获得大赛奖。
Student Services 学生服务 

Individualised Student Learning Goals and Services: Student Services Team has been actively engaged in developing and implementing individualised student learning goals and services across all divisions. By working collaboratively with teachers and parents, we have tailored our approach to meet the unique needs of each student. This collaborative effort ensures that our students receive the support they require to thrive academically and personally. 

个性化学生学习目标和服务:学生服务团队一直积极参与各个学部制定和实施个性化学生学习目标和服务。通过与老师和家长的合作,我们量身定制了我们的方法,以满足每个学生的独特需求。这种协作努力确保我们的学生获得他们在学业和个人生活中所需的支持,以便茁壮成长。 

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Initiatives: In Term 1, the Student Services Team has been instrumental in promoting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through various initiatives. Primary Pastoral Care (PC) lessons have provided opportunities for students to develop crucial social and emotional skills. These initiatives aim to enhance students’ well-being and resilience, preparing them for the challenges they may face both in and outside the classroom. 

社交情感学习(SEL):在第一学期,学生服务团队在推动各种倡议中发挥了重要作用,促进社交情感学习(SEL)。小学部辅导课程提供了学生发展关键社交和情感技能的机会。这些倡议旨在增强学生的幸福感和韧性,为他们在课堂内外可能面临的挑战做好准备。 

Sports 体育 

Our Swim Programme remains active as well. We successfully hosted the SSL Round One Meet and recently participated with a large squad in the SSL Round Two Meet in Suzhou. In between the SSL Rounds, we also took part in two swim meets. Our swimmers are active and continue to improve, achieving notable results.  

我们的游泳项目持续活跃。最近,我们成功举办了SSL第一轮比赛,并派出庞大的代表队参加在苏州举行的SSL第二轮比赛。此外,我们还积极参与了两次其他赛事。我们的游泳运动员持续进步,取得显著的成绩。 

Currently, our CISSA football teams are in the midst of a very busy football season, with numerous home and away fixtures. Both our boys’ and girls’ teams are consistently learning and developing, and they are eagerly prepared to represent SSIS in CISSA’s season-ending tournament on December 9th.  

目前,我们的CISSA足球队正全力以赴地参加这个充满活力的赛季,其中包括多场比赛。我们的男队和女队都在不断学习和成长,并迫不及待地准备好在129日代表SSIS参加CISSA的赛季结束锦标赛。 

We are now up and running with CISSA badminton. We have received a high level of interest, and the coaches and I are eager to work on enhancing our players’ skills to prepare them for upcoming events. 

我们也正积极地推进CISSA羽毛球项目。我们备受关注,教练和整个团队都急切地希望加强我们球员的技能,并为即将到来的比赛做好充分的准备。
