Dear Families,
It brings me immense joy to share the wonderful achievements and activities that have taken place over the past two weeks. From engaging assemblies to eco-literacy lessons and cultural exchanges, our young learners have been involved in various enriching experiences.
K1 Featured Assemblies
We recently hosted two amazing Featured Assemblies where our talented K1 students had the opportunity to showcase their learning to a captivated audience of parents and peers. It was a delight to witness their growth and confidence as they shared their achievements. These assemblies were followed by engaging parent-child activities, fostering stronger bonds and creating lasting memories. Thank you to all the parents who joined us!
Eco-Literacy
At SSIS Preschool (Early Years), we emphasize the importance of environmental stewardship and nurturing a love for nature in our young learners. Our ongoing eco-literacy lessons have been a success, as students actively learn about protecting the environment and understanding their role in preserving its wonders. Through these lessons, taught by Ms. Monica, our young learners are developing a deep appreciation for the natural world and gaining valuable knowledge to become responsible global citizens.
Chinese Parent-Child Reading
Parent and child reading plays a pivotal role in the holistic development of our young learners. It enhances their thinking and expressive skills as well as language development. To support this essential practice, we have been sharing electronic picture book stories with parents every week, focusing on their children’s theme learning content, Chinese culture and traditional festivals. We encourage you to utilize your weekend time to engage with your child with a good book!
Digital Cultural Sharing with Mahota Kindergarten
Fostering international-mindedness and cultural understanding from a young age is a vital part of our vision at SSIS. This Wednesday, our K1 students had a delightful digital cultural sharing session with our sister school in Singapore, Mahota Kindergarten. Through this virtual exchange, our students had the opportunity to meet their peers online and engage in meaningful conversations about Chinese New Year traditions.
Looking Forward
Next Friday we have our SSIS Chinese New Year Celebration and look forward to a joyous Chinese New Year as we welcome the Year of the Dragon!
As always, thank you for being an integral part of our vibrant SSIS community.
Respectfully Yours,
Sonia Barghani, Ed.D.
