Achievements 成就
Following huge success in previous rounds, SSIS students headed to Yale for The Tournament of Champions of World Scholars Cup (WSC). They joined hundreds of students from around the globe who come together in competition over four key events: The Scholar’s Bowl, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Challenge and Team Debate. Students also had the chance to interact with and learn directly from Yale students and faculty.

继前几轮比赛取得优异成绩后，SSIS学生前往耶鲁大学参加世界学者杯（WSC）冠军赛。他们与来自全球各地的数百名学生角逐四项重要赛事：超级学术碗、协同写作、学者挑战和小组辩论。学生们还有机会与耶鲁大学的师生面对面交流和学习。
The Class of 2024 have embarked on their university admissions journey. Many of our graduating classes have chosen to apply to highly selective institutions around the world. Currently, SSIS students have applied to the following destinations of choice:

Wellbeing 整体健康
We are thrilled to share some exciting updates and improvements in the Senior School Pastoral Wellbeing programme aimed at increasing student participation and engagement.
我们很高兴与大家分享中学部身心关怀计划的更新和优化信息，此举旨在提高学生的参与度和投入程度。
- New Student Planner: We have introduced a new student planner that incorporates Smart Goal Setting and a range of activities to enhance students’ progress & engagement like learning strengths, time management, note-taking skills, editing checklists and fun pages. 我们推出了全新的学生计划表，其中包含SMART目标设置和丰富活动，以提高学生的学习进度和参与程度，如学习优势、时间管理、笔记技巧、清单编辑和趣味页面。
- School-wide Monthly Themes: Our wellbeing lessons now align with these monthly themes and attributes, as well as with assemblies, whole school events, and specific needs of the Senior School. 身心关怀计划与每月学习主题和培养特质相一致，且与集会、全校活动以及中学部的独特需求保持同步。
- Academic Mentoring: The STEP team (coordinators, counsellors, and admin) meet weekly to track student data & strategise about how to best support our students. Together with the Form Tutors, we now have mentor meetings with students regarding their Smart Goals, academic progress & learning. Our entire staff continue to inform parents of their students’ successes & areas of need through the Managebac behaviour logs & merits. STEP团队（协调员、辅导员和行政）每周召开会议，追踪学生数据，为学生提供最佳支持策略。与班级导师一起，我们就学生的SMART目标、学业进展和学习情况召开导师会议。通过Managebac 行为日志和优点板块，教职员工向家长展示学生的优势和需要改进的方面。
- House Captains and Ambassadors: In addition to House Captains, each form class has elected a House Ambassador. Another new is our first joint Student Council & House Captains/Ambassadors Leadership Camp which was a resounding success. 除学院队长，每个班级还选出了一名学院大使。另一项新举措是我们首次联合学生会和学院队长/大使举办了领导力训练营，并大获成功。
- Promoting Public Speaking: October: Hong Kong Young Writer’s Award, November: ‘Make a noise about Bullying’ speech contest, December: Youth Environment Summit & the ever-popular WSC (World Scholar’s Cup), MUN (Model United Nations), SHAMUN. 十月：香港青年作家奖（HKYWA）；十一月：“为反霸凌发声”演讲比赛，十二月：青年环境峰会&广受欢迎的世界学者杯（WSC）、模拟联合国（MUN）和SHAMUN。
- Inclusion and Service Learning: We are actively working with Special Slices to promote inclusion and provide CAS opportunities through service learning. 我们与Special Slices 积极开展合作，通过服务学习促进共融并提供CAS机会。
- Staff Professional Development: Our staff is undergoing training in Restorative Practices, an innovative approach to dealing with concerns, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for all students. 教职员工正在接受Restorative Practices培训。这是一项处理问题的创新方法，旨在为所有学生营造一个支持性和包容性的环境。
Chinese & Chinese Culture 中文及中国文化课程

- 开设G7-G8中国名家名篇导读赏析课程。通过对名篇佳作欣赏，帮助学生体味关于爱、友谊、忠诚、勇敢、正直乃至爱国主义等永恒的人类精神，培养他们独立的、健全的人格。G7-G8 Chinese Masterpieces Reading and Appreciation Course embedded in regular Chinese Programme.
- 为G1-G8 基础中文班级的学生准备了 e-Level Chinese中文阅读在线平台。帮助学生找到适合的阅读材料，提升他们学习兴趣及阅读理解能力。 An e-Level Chinese online platform has been prepared for G1-G8 basic Chinese classes to help students find suitable reading materials, enhancing their learning interests and reading comprehension abilities.
- 第三届“星光杯”中外学校中文辩论赛将于明年3月进行。继第一、二届中文辩论大赛成功举行，我们的活动得到了华漕镇教委的大力肯定和支持。我们将会邀请更多辖区公立和外籍学校加入到此活动中，为更多学生和学校提供共同学习和成长的机会及平台。 The third “Starlight Cup” Sino-Foreign School Chinese Debate Competition will take place in March next year. Following the successful completion of the first and second Chinese debate competitions, our activities have received strong affirmation and support from the Huacao Town Education Bureau. We will invite more public and foreign schools to participate in this event to provide more opportunities and platforms for collective learning and growth for more schools.
- 第三届国际青少年中文写作大赛已启动，我们将继续组织学生参加此比赛。The third Global Chinese Writing Competition for Young Writers has been launched, and we will continue to encourage students to participate in this competition.
- 上海教委组织的外籍人员子女学校中国文化进校园比赛活动于本学年进行，经过筛选，来自K-12年级的17名学生的作品将代表学校参加此次比赛。自上海教委组织此活动以来，我校每次都能以优异的成绩获得大赛奖。相信同学们一定能再次取得优异的成绩。 Moreover, the Shanghai Education Commission’s competition on Chinese Culture in Foreign Children’s Schools will take place this academic year. After screening, the works of 17 students from grades K-12 will represent the school in this competition. Since the launch of this activity by the Shanghai Education Commission, our school has consistently achieved excellent results in the competition. We believe that the students will once again achieve outstanding results.
Student Services 学生服务
Student Services Team has been actively engaged in developing and implementing individualised student learning goals and services across all divisions. By working collaboratively with teachers and parents, we have tailored our approach to meet the unique needs of each student. This collaborative effort ensures that our students receive the support they require to thrive academically and personally.
学生服务团队一直积极参与各个学部制定和实施个性化学生学习目标和服务。通过与老师和家长的合作，我们量身定制了我们的方法，以满足每个学生的独特需求。这种协作努力确保我们的学生获得他们在学业和个人生活中所需的支持，以便茁壮成长。
In Term 1, the Student Services Team has been instrumental in promoting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) through various initiatives. Senior School Counselling lessons have provided opportunities for students to develop crucial social and emotional skills. These initiatives aim to enhance students’ well-being and resilience, preparing them for the challenges they may face both in and outside the classroom.
在第一学期，学生服务团队在推动各种倡议中发挥了重要作用，促进社交情感学习（SEL）。中学部辅导课程提供了学生发展关键社交和情感技能的机会。这些倡议旨在增强学生的幸福感和韧性，为他们在课堂内外可能面临的挑战做好准备。
In a significant milestone, our team had the honor of presenting at the Annual Special Education Network and Inclusion Association (SENIA) International Conference. The presentation focused on the SSIS Student Referral Process, showcasing our commitment to inclusive education. Furthermore, the team emphasized the importance of unifying voices of parents and families in shaping the educational experience and described communication pathways tailored to the needs of all students.
我们的学生服务团队有幸在年度特殊教育网络和包容协会（SENIA）国际会议上做报告。演示重点放在SSIS学生转介流程上，展示了我们对包容教育的承诺。此外，团队强调了在塑造教育经验中统一家长和家庭声音的重要性，并描述了根据所有学生需要定制的沟通途径。
Sports 体育
This season has been eventful for our athletics programme, starting with early training and fixtures. Our focus is on holistic development, balancing athletics with academics and behaviour. Emphasising fundamental values like responsibility, accountability, commitment, and gratitude, we aim to nurture well-rounded student athletes.
Our volleyball teams have had incredibly busy seasons in SISAC. They have recently ended the season on a high note, participating with our 4 teams in SISAC’s Season Ending Tournaments; one of which we have successfully hosted. We have also had a very successful ACAMIS tournament in Beijing where our student athletes performed exceptionally well and represented SSIS with great pride.

Our Swim Programme remains active as well. We successfully hosted the SSL Round One Meet and recently participated with a large squad in the SSL Round Two Meet in Suzhou. In between the SSL Rounds, we also took part in two swim meets. Our swimmers are active and continue to improve, achieving notable results.
我们的游泳项目持续活跃。最近，我们成功举办了SSL第一轮比赛，并派出庞大的代表队参加在苏州举行的SSL第二轮比赛。此外，我们还积极参与了两次其他赛事。我们的游泳运动员持续进步，取得显著的成绩。
Furthermore, our Golf programme is continuing to provide opportunities for our students to connect with and develop a love for the sport. We recently had a highly successful Parent Golf Day event, involving many SSIS parents and staff. This was followed by our participation in the Golf for Hearts Fundraiser and SSSA League at Shanghai Golf Club.

- Currently, our CISSA football teams are in the midst of a very busy football season, with numerous home and away fixtures. Both our boys’ and girls’ teams are consistently learning and developing, and they are eagerly prepared to represent SSIS in CISSA’s season-ending tournament on December 9th. 目前，我们的CISSA足球队正全力以赴地参加这个充满活力的赛季，其中包括多场比赛。我们的男队和女队都在不断学习和成长，并迫不及待地准备好在12月9日代表SSIS参加CISSA的赛季结束锦标赛。
- We are now up and running with CISSA badminton. We have received a high level of interest, and the coaches and I are eager to work on enhancing our players’ skills to prepare them for upcoming events. 我们也正积极地推进CISSA羽毛球项目。我们备受瞩目，教练和整个团队全力以赴加强我们球员的技能，并为即将到来的比赛做好充分的准备。
- We are now up and running with SISAC Basketball. Our 3 teams have been training and will begin their seasonal fixtures very soon. 此外，我们正在积极准备SISAC篮球赛季，共有3支队伍正在训练，并即将开始他们的比赛季。
Looking ahead, we will maintain an active role in local leagues and will continue hosting events and invitationals to offer our Sabres further opportunities to excel and develop in sports.
Aesthetics 美学
During term 1, the Aesthetics department introduced a combined choir and orchestra, which will continue throughout the school year. Senior school students showcased their talent in events like the IFB and One Act Festival. Additionally, visual art students participated in a field trip, demonstrating their admirable commitment to their artistic pursuits.
在第一学期，美学部推出了合唱团和交响乐团合作项目，这些将贯穿整个学年。中学生在诸如IFB和单幕节等学校活动中展现了自己的才华。此外，视觉艺术学生还参加了一次实地考察，展现了对艺术的专注和真挚热情。
