What is ISO 22000?
ISO 22000 is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization dealing with food safety.
The consequences of unsafe food can be serious and ISO’s food safety management standards map out what an organization needs to do to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards in order to ensure that food is safe for consumption.
At SSIS, Campus Safety permeates all aspects of school life. Providing a caring and nurturing environment as laid out in our guiding statements necessitates that the health and safety of our students be placed as a top priority.
Other than adhering to the local regulatory standards, SSIS is committed to bring our level of food safety to a higher level, be it more efficient, scientific and standardized with international standards.
In March 2019, after a series of preparations, our school’s Catering Department officially launched ISO 22000 food safety management system certification process.
During the ISO 22000 certification process, a thorough and stringent examination process was conducted, including the facilities of our school’s kitchen, food production and preparation processes, bookkeeping, purchasing system and kitchen workflow, etc. At the same time, random samples of food, water and cutlery were delivered to the food safety inspection for testing.
SSIS is proud to announce that we have officially obtained our ISO 22000 Certification at the end of May after a three-month thorough review and examination by the ISO Team. The ISO 22000 Certification will be issued to the school in mid-June.
This certification marks another milestone for our SSIS kitchen team, having met the most stringent international standards for professional kitchen management. We will take this as an encouragement to make continuous improvement and provide our teachers, students and staff not just nutritious and delicious but also safe and healthy lunch.
