T1W10 – 10 Nov 2023
Dear Families,
I am excited to share some updates and upcoming events with you.
A Colourful NatureFest
The 2nd annual NatureFest, an SSIS celebration of embracing the natural environment and community, gathered our families and students for a fun-filled afternoon of hands-on activities, creative projects, stories, songs and, of course, a bonfire! Connecting with nature is a key part of our pedagogical belief; not only because it enhances students’ understanding of the world but also fosters inquiry and creativity. Thank you all for making this event a rainbow of success!
Reading Extravaganza Week
This year’s Reading Extravaganza Week was another wonderful success! This week-long event cultivates a love for literacy among all SSIS students. Through a series of interactive and diverse activities, such as character dress-up, teacher plays and pyjama day we had quite an adventure! Developing a passion for reading is key to lifelong learning! A special thank you to the parent readers who joined us throughout the week!
Home-School Partnerships
“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.” -Helen Keller
Effective communication between school and home is vital for the holistic development of our students. I encourage you to utilize communication books and private WeCom chats to share updates and accomplishments with your homeroom teachers. By working together as partners, we can create a supportive and collaborative environment that nurtures the growth and well-being of our students. Collaboration between school and home is essential in providing the best possible educational experience for our students.
Upcoming: Read and Run Neighborhood Excursions
As part of our nature-based learning programme, Pre-Nursery, Nursery and K1 Read and Run Neighborhood Excursions are coming up! Read and Runs are unique opportunities for our students to explore the nearby community while engaging in reading activities. By combining physical exercise and play with literacy, we create a holistic learning experience that connects education with the world around us. Sign-up information will be shared next week!
International Family Bazaar (IFB) is Tomorrow!
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the SSIS International Family Bazaar tomorrow! There is a full lineup of student performances as well as activity booths, games, crafts and much, much more!
Respectfully Yours,
Dr. Sonia Barghani
